Our role players aren’t giving us enough this year

Minnesota commentary made an astute comment last night when they built a lead that I’m sure most of us laughed about. He said thank God they don’t have Ryan Anderson anymore. That guy used to kill us. He’s right. Last year we could expect at least one role player to outperform their expectations every night. Typically it was Ariza but also occasionally Anderson green Tucker or Luc would give us 12-15 pts out of nowhere. We’re just not getting that wildcard production anymore this year. We can only definitively depend on harden and capela and sometimes Gordon / Paul to put up points. That’s why I think Brandon Knight will be bigger for us than ppl realize. He can get buckets. When Minnesota went ahead, we were getting good looks from perimeter, just Tucker green house were missing open shots.

The worst thing about this is most of our role role players are one way players that’s specialty suppose to be shooting or scoring....

Last year we had high level role players. They were replaced with mediocre role players. A major shakeup is needed after December 15 and I have to believe that Morey has something up his sleeve. We may have to trade EG in order to add a quality wing and rebuild our bench. I’m just hoping Morey makes the right move.

I would not pin my hopes on BKnight.

Before his atrocious injury, he was scoring most of his load in meaningless games and when the Suns were way behind.

You would need a role player version of Billups or Lowry who used to make tons of 3 pters to tie the game when the team needed them the most.

    Yeah ….

    Ariza > Ennis
    Luc > Melo's corpse
Nene on his last leg > Nene's corpse

No …. but this particular thread is about role players , and they haven't played their roles well.

Role players underperforming, Star point guard underperforming.

    ... could be worse......

Just my opinion but I think role players contributions should be expected to be somewhat inconsistent.

Better at home and worse on the road etc..

If you're making 40mil a season I expect to be able to count on a solid to spectacular performance from you just about every night.

I don’t even believe Ennis is a worse player than Ariza. I see stuff from him this year that Ariza never did but the difference is consistency and persistence. Ariza did what he wa suppose to do every game(good or bad shooting) he never stalled away from the gameplan or his role. He never fouled as much as Ennis either. Ennis has careless foul like harden has careless turnovers.

We already have a thread for that. This thread is about another issue with the team. You do know this team has multiple issue that can be discussed

We actually had a guy that could score really good. But the team, media & idiot fans ran him out after 10 games. I hate to say it but I saw this coming

What happened to Gary Clark? Can't he be on the court at the same time as Danuel House?

Exactly. Missing OPEN shots at that rate is unacceptable
    IT is that simple
EVERYTHING ELSE would have fallen into place

When you being chased off the Line. . .and going 0-fer the quarter on threes
    DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE
Ram it down their f*cking throats or get a foul call

The sad thing is we could STILL have Ryan Anderson on this team and the announcers could just have easily made the same comment, "thank God they don’t have Ryan Anderson anymore". He's shooting like 20% from 3. He's been DONE for almost a year now.

He lost his shot. He’s barely touching the rim.

Gary Clark is shooting 29% from the floor this year........ you cannot play someone doing that.

Danuel House isn't anything special, but at least he shoots 39% from the floor.

Outside of Gordon the Rockets have no above average bench players for their roles.

Gerald Green is the type of guy that should be right outside the rotation.

Compare to the second star player who gave you 5 points and made 1 shot out of 8, but taking the 40M pay check from you, I think our role players is OK at this time o_O

    Lots of things need work

    I’ll start with the good:
    Harden is in prime form
    Capela has been great
    Harden-to-Capela is lethal
Tucker is an excellent glue guy
    The defense is improving

    And all the bad:
Paul has been mediocre - and is on a max
    Ennis has been inconsistent
Tucker has been great but you can’t rely on him for more than 10 points
    Gordon has been putrid
    Nene is old
Clark is a rookie and somehow out of the rotation
Green is not a good basketball player
House is not a good basketball player
I don’t know if Hartenstein is a good basketball player because the moment he gets a bit of momentum, he goes back on the bench
D’Antoni is consistently getting outcoached after teams adjust
MCW is a total bust and should be out of the league
Brandon Knight has not played a game in almost two years and we are hoping he will somehow add to our depth
Marquese Chriss has all the tools to be great and none of the drive or IQ, sort of like T Jones
We don’t have a contending roster, plain and simple

This team sucks and there’s no quick fix. I expected us to get worse from last year - but this is far beyond my expectations
