Casspi is an underrated passer and makes effort to play off the ball, not sure fans appreciate those aspects of his game enough. Should Parsons have another DNP, would like to see Casspi inserted into the starting lineup.
Meh he is still too small to Play PF and too slow to Play SF He is a hustler though and good off the bench
Overall, Casspi is playing a lot better than I had originally hoped, though I think there was a lot of expectation surrounding him potentially stepping into the shoes Delfino left behind, especially with the strong pre-season and early season he had. His poor December behind the arc (28.3%) combined with Garcia's poor December (~30%) destroyed a lot of people's opinion of the bench (though Aaron Brooks really stepped up in that regard). Lin not hitting 3s recently after hitting them early in the season, and Harden not doing well from behind the arc for most of the season really hasn't helped either - especially since the team relies on them so much. The team went from being tied for 8th in percentage last year to tied for 24th this year, and I honestly think that's why the team misses Parsons so much as he's the only one (outside of Brooks) who's been consistently hitting them after a slow week or so to start the season.
Yeah where is the analysis of the step cliff Garcia's game has fallen off of? Dude has either lost his have completely or is in a 2 month long shoring slump. Not to mention consistently poor decision making, whether on defense (seems like he fouls a 3 pt shooter every other game and almost positive he gives up an and1 every game) or offense. I don't fault the rockets re-signing him because he was a stuff in the playoffs last year, but I think he more than anyone on the team is letting the team down by not performing his role at an adequate level.
He's definitely worth what he is being paid. I would say he is a bargain. Would still like to upgrade that position, but Omri has done his job.
I don't know why people are disappointed with Garcia, he didn't get playing time at sorry ass Sacramento. He has always been a quality locker room guy, the fact that he has played as much as he has means there is a huge hole in the lineup (Asik or DMo trade should solve that). In a pinch, he is there. This means he will ride the pine without complaining and if injuries take a toll, he is there and plays his ass off (with limited skills). Got love him and his attitude. I think most that know anything about basketball are not surprised by Casspi's play. We knew we were getting good bang for you buck.
Glad i dont follow or care for all these advanced stats that seem to ignore a players deficiencies. Casspi has made many boneheaded plays but thats hot represented in his TS%, he has shot very inconsistantly since joining the team but thats now represented in his PER. Unlike most here , ive seen casspi play for SAC and CLE. I go by what i see on the court and he is still playing at the same level that caused those teams to bench him.
in his rookie season, he was great until the all star break with 12.5 ppg and 4.5 rebounds. had some 20+ games in a row, was rank 1 on espn rookie of the year ranking, at one point, and starting 5 in the all star rookie challenge. he finished the season with 10.3 ppg and 4.5 rebounds shooting 446% fg and 369 % from 3. actually his stats today are close to his carrer avarage. last year he didn't got a chance, and had his worst season. I will be satisfied if he could play like he did in his rookie year, he played with passion, and great hustle and cluch playes.
My guess is that it was a directive to get D-Mo playing time in hopes to increase his trade value. Didn't work.
Is Casspi a 4 or a 3? his offensive game is a 3. I don't know if he can guard NBA wing players though. I wish he could play Parsons' backup rather than playing Gracia or Brewer.
As said before Casspi is an adequate 8th option on a very good team. He is ok but regarding our other bench guys he is shining because the others are so bad.
