No gratuitous shots at our neighbors up north please. Batz Jones is from a small inbred town between dfw and okc around the border and wont like this.
Lol just saying, it's the Mandela effect. I'm sure most people envision Melo on that boat with Wade, CP3, and Lebron (instead of Gabrielle Union)
Carmelo won't be stuck anywhere that he doesn't want to be. NTC - he can obviously control where he's traded. If he goes to Cleveland & LeBron leaves, he can opt out & leave too. He's not stuck. If he goes to OKC & one or both of them leave, he can opt out & leave too. He's not stuck. If he goes to Houston & Chris leaves, he can opt out & leave too. He's not stuck. Anywhere he goes(or even if he's stuck in New York), if it doesn't go well, he can opt out & leave. He's not stuck anywhere. And La La is not moving with him. That's not a factor. She said she's staying in New York. Born & bred. Will not underestimate Sam Presti pulling something out of his ass again & other dumb front offices. Not saying he's going to OKC or Portland (or some other mystery team that pops up) but if those are the alternatives to staying in New York, not going to the mess in Cleveland or not being able to work out a trade with Houston, while again unlikely, maybe he considers it.
Easy Rocket Fan. Bill Simmons is NOT an insider. He simply figured out that Melo knows somebody on the OKC staff and came to the conclusion that there's interest.
The more time that passes, the more likely it is that Anthony ends up somewhere other than Houston. The Knicks are not terribly happy with the Rockets offer, and as more time goes on, more teams will shake loose and try to make a play for Anthony....... OKC, CLV, POR and possibly (guessing) SA or BOS. If things don't resolve soon, Anthony is likely to be inclined to increase which teams he will consider.
Alani LaLa is not a factor true but I guess he wants to see his kid Kiyan once in a while.....likely not moving him from school. (top schools in NY)
Let's be honest, if only us and OKC are actually in the running, our Anderson package is WAY worse than Kanter or Adams. Think too many people here are a bit biased and somehow try to justify a Rockets-Melo deal that is total sh** for the Knicks.
No one wants to play in OKC. Russ doesn't want to be there or else he would've already signed his supermax extension. Melo is going to waive his no-trade clause just to see Russ and Paul George leave for LA.
Saw a few regular people on twitter posting that SAS says Melo has no interest in OKC. Not sure what interview that came from, though.
Kanter + McDermott for Melo could be a trade. Kanter has 1 less year than Ryan Anderson (ugh). McDermott would be a sweetener. Just god damn that Anderson contract!!!! The YEARS on that thing. I don't see Melo waiving his NTC for OKC though. And Melo on OKC is an odd fit since Westrbook and George would be taking all the shots. Not the same dynamic as in Houston with "PASS FIRST" players like CP3 and Harden. Melo would get shots in Houston. I can see why Presti would go after Melo. Try to RID himself of the Kanter contract (similar to the Oladipo situation in the PG13 trade). Go "all in" and if it doesn't work and everyone leaves the "deck is cleared" in terms of salary. Makes sense for PRESTI for sure.
Someone from the Knicks organization probably passed along the OKC circling thing to Bill Simmons to try to drum up more teams going after OKC to try to build some leverage for NY. Morey isn't buying it though, I am sure. He has an idea of the market. While I feel like Morey would be willing to wait things out, I do agree with @Nook that the longer this takes, the more risky the situations get with other factors getting in the way of a Melo transaction.
You cant give the ball to melo and let him go one on one. Teams do not resepect roberson or westbrook from three. The ball has to be in westbrooks hands most of the time.
George has already expressed a CLEAR interest in the Lakers that everyone and their mom knows about, and he at best gave OKC a "we'll see how the season goes" when asked about resigning. I think OKC could be just as fluid as Cleveland. If Paul George leaves, that leaves Westbrook and Melo in OKC. Paul George as far as I know has little connection to Melo. Chris Paul on the other hand...
Of course they do. The Knicks think they deserve a free pass for all of their shitty roster decisions over the years. In fact, they think they deserve something good to happen to them. I have no idea what planet they live in. This Melo deal is a product of their own front office and ownership. Granted they could have not given Melo the deal in the 1st place, but that doesn't excuse all of the terrible roster moves they've made aside from Melo. If the Knicks had a decent roster then we aren't even having this discussion about a Melo trade.
