Going by his career pitches per game, he'll make approximately $6,920 per pitch.

He better waste any pitches on 0-2 counts. ;)

This will not get the Astros into the playoffs in and of itself. They will need to make a trade to get another bat, or bats, before the trading deadline.

I wonder if the few starts Nieve has made will draw some interest for a bat. He's really been looking good, though he doesn't have the greatest stuff.

You hate to trade away a potential starter for the future for what might be a short term bat, but now is the time to make the push for a ring.

Is Clemens really going to turn this team around?

So ummm.....what was the point of that Stephen ass smith rant? I read the whole thing and feel dumber.

Yes Clemens took his dear time deciding etc...but damn, he's not the first to do so....See Beltran.

Who cares. He's back, that's all that matters.

    Go Stros.

here is a copy of the letter I wrote to Passan
    :

Regarding your article on Clemens, it sounds like you are bitter that the
Rocket didn't land in New York or Boston...

When Roger signed with Houston today, there was the media, interviewing Joe
Torre... There was the media, interviewing Theo Epstein...

Earth to baseball reporters: There are more teams in the majors besides the
    Yankees and the Red Sox...

I'll tell you what's trite and cliche, ESPN and Yahoo analysts saying that
Houston didn't have a chance to land the Rocket, then seeing them
backpeddle... Do I need to remind you that the Astros were 15-30 last season
before making a run for the World Series?

I think the idea - and a legitimate argument to me - is that if he really cared about winning and helping the Astros make the playoffs, he wouldn't wait until late June to do it. If we miss the playoffs by 1 game, could Roger having started in May made the difference?

That said, some other poster summed up my opinion of Clemens' best way back in the winter. He's an ass, but he's our ass.

I like the fact that he isn't going to be pitching till now. This way he isn't going to run out of gas like he did last season.

    Lets' Go Stros! '06 Champs!

"We're all gay, happy," slugger Lance Berkman said inside the visitors' clubhouse at new Busch Stadium as he sat with Brad Lidge, Chris Burke,Mike Lamb, Jason Lane and Adam Everett an hour before the Astros held a press conference in Houston announcing Clemens' deal.

Berkman and the rest of the Astros welcomed Clemens back to the family with a warm embrace tinged with clubhouse banter.
