Yeah but he also just threw a 46 pitch inning . Very high stress . Sure in the small picture you might wear out the bullpen , maybe have to call up another long reliever for the rest of the series . But after struggling with command so badly for keuchel that suggests something mechanical is off . With the innings he pitched last year the last thing you want is for him to get injured . He was lucky to get out of that allowing only 3 . Now that we see him getting taken out , what good did leaving him in do ?
That's likely the death blow. Really losing hope on this season. ____ Fields now pitching, and gets out of it. Offense NEED 2 runs.... quick Thunder are showing a pulse. Maybe SA will lose
Stuff entirely based on pin-point location and movement. Stuff in the zone needs to be crisp enough to avoid solid contact. If any of it suffers... it immediately effects the rest of it. In this case, velocity suffering has him likely trying to be too precise (as anything in the zone has a higher chance of getting crushed). Or location suffering in general gets him behind in the count, and he has to leave stuff in the zone that is not up to snuff.
Yeah that's fair too. I just think he's earned leeway if anyone has. And I don't mind giving him a chance to right the ship. He didn't get crushed in the first 3 innings. The result doesn't change the answer for me. Maybe you were right. But I thought it was fair to send him out to start the inning
If this is really who Kuechel is... and this is as good as Correa is going to be this year... then yes. The entire potential of this team is predicated on who they should/could be, not who they are right now.
im saying it right now. if keuchel cant get it going then this team has no chance at making the playoffs
