Not sure if someone else has done this already, but with the preseason less than a month away, I wanted to see what everyone thinks of the Texans' chance this year. I'm optimistically predicting a 9-7 or 8-8 season, with the Texans making the playoffs. They're a much better team this year, and with Carr, Davis, and Johnson (all future stars in the league, as far as I'm concerned), they're set for success and popularity.
Im going with 8-8 also. I still think the team could use another outside linebacker because Wong is a reserve player at best. They can take care of that next offseason and also a #2 wideout. You have to have 2 legit wideouts to compete with the best and right now they only have one.
I'm gonna go 8-8 myself........ but I will disagree with one point... I am not part of the group that believes you have to have 2 "legitimate" all pro WR's to contend for the championship..... look at the Patriots for goodness sake I think what the Texans are doing is perfect...... stud WR in Johnson...... speedster in Bradford and possession guy in Gafney....... lets wait until the whole offense is unleashed before you judge the system........ and with Domanick Davis and Tony Hollings as the RB's this offense is really shaping up..... not to mention our HUGE tackles.....I just hope David Carr can see over them, hahaha as for the defense...... Babin and Peek are the future starters at the outside spots.....Wong will be moved inside to either take over for Foreman or Sharper.....whichever we cannot afford after this year...... but I hope we keep Sharper gonna be a great season
I think it could range anywhere from 7-9 to 9-7, depending on injuries...so I'll be optimistic and say 9-7.
Yeah but I think David Givens might be better than Gaffney and Bradford. Panthers have Muhammed and Smith, Rams have the best duo in Holt and Bruce. If you build your team around a QB you have to give him atleast 2 wideouts who can make plays. Bradford is only good on fly patterns and Gaffney just looks for a soft place to land once he catches the ball.
Optimistically, I'd like to go with 8-8, but I think 7-9 is more ralistic, esp. considering our tough division.
The key is that they do not go 0-4 against the Titans and Colts...If they go 2-2 then they are setting themselves up for a 9-7 season...
I personally think they'll go 9-7 because they've proven that they will stay competitive and even win the "big games" against big-name teams. Because we're an expansion team, having 2 stud WRs isn't a necessity; it'd be a luxury. As it is, I think we're lucky to have Dre and Billy Miller (TE used mostly like a receiver) for DC to throw to. Gaffney should be a good receiver this year for Carr to throw to, and Bradford always has at least 1 or 2 big gain plays. It should be an interesting season, can't wait to see the Texans in the playoffs soon.

I'm with you. I could go anywhere from 6-10 to 10-6. Don't really care though. Just want to see some considerable improvement (and a better record than the Cowboys)
When you say you don't really care, do you mean you're not a big fan of the Texans, or are you just saying you don't have really high expectations? I'm hoping playoffs. I think a lot of people are. And it's not that unrealistic, either. I can't wait for the season to start.
I know I might be a little ahead of myself but I think Davis has a shot at making the probowl since Portis went to the NFC and Williams retired. Thats 2 less backs he has to worry about.
