I guess I'm saying that it would be one of the few picks I've heard suggested that I wouldn't be fine with. I could be talked into taking Watt but really it should be O line or QB.....at least in my opinion.
Crazy idea but.....trade Watt, 2017 1st rd pick and 2017 4th rd pick (if needed) to Cleveland for picks #1 and #12. Draft Myles with #1, trade #12 for more picks to get a QB and OL.
When Fat Albert fell on Schaub's it was the beginning of the end. Dr.'s called it. ut apparently not the Texans Dr.'s. Ricky instead gave Scau (At that time) a big extension.)
These were the same people telling us how fantastic the offensive moves were from last year and what a wonderful leader Brock is. Then we had one of the worst offensive seasons in history.
I definitely understand the frustration about this offseason. They really haven't done anything at all. BUT, the fact of the matter is that Vandermeer, Deepi and John Harris all work for the Texans. So we shouldn't expect them to rag on the Texans for having a poor offseason even if they personally are disappointed with the offseason. I'm sure that their ultimate goal as media employees of the Texans is to get fans as excited as possible for the upcoming season and that's only going to happen if they're consistently positive despite any shortcomings the Texans might have.
It was so funny to hear them right after the trade that sent Brock away. It's like they finally felt free to dog the dude. They unleashed all kinds of criticism it didn't even sound like criticism. But of course they had nothing but praise for Rick Smith and Bill O'Brien
Man, of course I understand that they WORK for the Texans. I get it. However, that doesn't mean you can't at least try and give listeners SOME kind of critical thought about how you really feel. This off-season has NOT been good......at least give us some insight into what the thought process has been, and why they've basically sat on their asses. I don't need them to denigrate the team, but then at least tell me WHY they do what they do.
I like the idea of Watson. I think Mahomes will be long gone, and I think Watson has Dak-like attributes. Not saying production will be similar because of different situations, but they could be similar players. Watson is the kind of guy I would rather sit for a year while we figured out what we have in Savage, but he's also the QB I'd want most to step in for Savage if he got injured in week 3. I don't think Mahomes could do that.
I think the compensatory picks play a large part when it comes to the "sitting on their asses" issue. They probably feel better about giving up the future 2nd to rid themselves of Osweiler knowing that they have a future 3rd plus other picks coming their way. Also, you can start signing guys after May 8th I think without worrying about it affecting the compensation formula. It seems like they're waiting until after the draft and udfa to supplement with some free agents.
I know people focus on wonderlic scores for QBs, but looking at some score of OL. OUCH! I liked Bolles too but a 9 makes him borderline brain-dead. 10. Roderick Johnson (Florida State) - 23/50 11. Pat Elflein (Ohio State) - 21/50 12. Ryan Ramczyk (Wisconsin) - 20/50 13. Cam Robinson (Alabama) - 16/50 14. Dion Dawkins (Temple) - 12/50 15. Garett Bolles (Utah) - 9/50
