They got burned in FA last yr so they decided not to participate in FA this yr. That seems like a sound strategy.
So Zach Brown wouldn't look pretty good next to McKinney next season. How about a NT like Hankins? Nah don't need any DL depth those guys never get hurt.
Tell us what makes a great owner? Houston certainly doesn't have a great owner. I will give you my definition, hire the best people possible on the football side and let them do their job. Stay out of the draft and only get involved when your GM has to make a big $$$$ decision. But always side on the side of what's best for the on the field product. Do you think Ricky McNair is the best football guy there is to be found? Cant wait for your definition.
Here is number #7 in the 2016 Forbes list. https://www.forbes.com/pictures/mli45fgemg/7-new-york-knicks/#2440d689106a Not the Houston Texans
First, Brown isn't going to unseat Cushing quite yet... Not bc Cushing is a stud, but bc Cushing is one of the leaders of the defense, despite diminishing returns. Second, you don't think it's odd that Brown hasn't signed with a team yet? Teams are clearly not interested in the 6+ million per year he's looking to get as of right now. So no, that kind of price tag is not something I'd be interested in. Brown might lower his price, but the Texans will rightfully have moved on at that point. Same story with Hankins... Is it really worth signing this guy and possibly forfeiting a 6th round comp pick next season? If you're looking for depth at DT, either draft one or wait and see what vets get released later in the off season. These additions don't move the needle in any direction for the Texans...
There is plenty of argument against it. http://www.houstonpress.com/news/why-bob-mcnair-is-the-worst-owner-in-houston-sports-history-7839734
Well, not an intelligent one.....then again given the state of the fanbase, I'm sure there's plenty of "other" types of arguments against it.
BOB speaks on rookie QBs and if they will reach for one: http://www.houstonchronicle.com/spo...ady-for-stability-at-quarterback-11037052.php
so that's a yes on drafting qb. the problem is contrary to popular belief, Rick will just gather the stock for B.O.B with what B.O.B likes in his Qbs. The problem is B.O.B only sees one way to run his chowderclam ugg offense and you're not going to find that guy. It took NE, 30 years. I don't think 2004 UGGs can run this offense. You have to let the qb grow. Mcnair is out patience, fans 'done been' out of patience and B.O.B can't stall anymore.
“I think it’s tough to play quarterback as a rookie in our league,” head coach Bill O’Brien told reporters at the NFL owners meetings Tuesday. ” I think that there’s no substitute for experience. So, I think it’s hard to ask a guy to come in straight from college and day one he’s a starter on your team.” I think O'Brien isn't the QB guru he claims to be
