With his size, if he works out well during the Rice Pro Day, he could rocket up the charts. In today's game of mismatches, he could be the ultimate end zone target. If we get this kid, I wish we could coax Andre to come back and work with him.
I didnt understand the thought process behind this pick. At all. I mean Ervin is a gadget/return type guy while Dixon, Howard, Booker, Perkins all showed lead back traits. We went all out on the speed thing..
They went with the fastest receiver and the fastest running back available. For some reason they thought all they needed on offense was speed. If they were willing to gamble on players with questionable character, they could have gotten Tyreek Hill (and Marcus Peters the previous year).
Not true. Brock hit Fuller deep on bombs repeatedly last year that he dropped. The year prior, Brian Hoyer hit Nate Washington deep on bombs regularly that HE dropped. Now, Brock was god awful at most things so not trying to hold him up or anything, but it wasn't the QB's fault that Fuller's straight line speed wasn't useful.
Eh, after defenses adjusted to us after the Minny and NE games, I'm not so sure we were able to hit Fuller very consistently. I was moreso thinking of quick slants and screens though. Pre snap reads like Brady does where he rushes the ball to a guy in open space.
Hitting Fuller was never the problem, the ball bouncing off of his baby hands again and again was the problem.....at least when it comes to those deep routes. Obviously there were other problems in different areas.
Fair enough. It did happen too often. That being said, I don't think we went all speed in the draft just to have guys open for bombs. We have yet to have any semblance of a uptempo, get it to guys in space offense. That was the vision last summer. I'm hoping it was just Brock ******** the bed...
I'll give the kid another season to turn things around before I write him off. He showed some potential at times to overcome his baby hands when he made a few REALLY good catches and oddly enough it was usually the easiest of catches that he had bounce off his hands. There's still a chance he can figure it all out and justify him being drafted where he was.
He had a good rookie year. I think with better QB play it will add to the overall confidence and better play because of it. There was no expectation where the ball would be last year. Just none. Fuller is a big time player for us.
Trying to blame him simply dropping passes that hit his hands on the QB is kind of wishful thinking. He had an inconsistent rookie year and none of his problems were due to the QB.
