Caught the tail end of the weekly Bannister interview here in D/FW. I guess the stupid 105.3 DJs were trying to get him to be remorseful about beating up on the Astros as much as they have. He said something like "we're just playing the teams were scheduled to play and we're going to play to win. i don't feel any remorse.". Stupid DJ sports guys....what do you expect him to say? "Sure...we'll lay down for them so they can feel better!". God...it was so stupid. I hate these local sports guys more than I hate the Rangers.
Just FYI, Chapman debuted May 9, which also marks Giles' first appearance after his ERA shot up to a season high 9.24. Since then: Giles ERA: 2.28 WHIP: 1.04 K/9: 14.1 SV: 10 BSV: 3 IP: 47.2 Chapman ERA: 1.73 WHIP: .885 K/9: 13.9 SV: 34 BSV: 3 IP: 52 Chapman has unquestionably been better (albeit ~40% in the NL) - and, unlike Giles, Chapman has been the full-time closer in two high-pressure environments. But the difference between the two is ~3 ERs and ~7 H+BB. And prior to last night, Giles has been flat-out filthy since June 1 (1.70 ERA; .95 WHIP; 14.5 K/( in 37 IP with 9 saves; 1 blown save). I would offer his emergence since the awful start is one of the more positive developments this year.
lol... you too? That time of year....to put the hopes of a successful season into the other local sport....the never ending cycle.
2015 against the Rangers (4-15) 2016 against the Rangers (3-15) 7-30 against your rival. Just flat out pathetic and embarrassing.

It seems like whenever Giles comes in for a save situation I just don't feel good. 10/13 is 76% which is much worse than chapman.
Well, Chapman *is* better... but I would wager even Cub fans sweat Chapman appearances to some degree - not as much *now* - they have, like, a 45-game lead in the division; but they will in October when their games matter again. It's the nature of the situation/job: closers rarely appear in games that aren't tight and close. The Astros, meanwhile, have a near-zero margin for error right now and they're playing a team that has displaced Jim Crane as franchise owner. So his appearances (and failures) are even more heightened. But I would wager your lack of faith isn't necessarily in Giles, but in the entire team, which is collapsing. I mean, do you have faith in *any* of these guys coming through right now - especially against Arlington?
Given how poorly our best hitters have been against the Rangers all season, why not change the batting order some?
One BS (last night) since being named the full-time closer. Of course he's got room to improve... but I wouldn't short-sight his overall turnaround since the end of May.

Well, the Rangers have had our number. Both this season and last. But its a deviation from the norm or an exception to it. The one constant in the universe is change. Deviations and exceptions are short lived phenomena. They will not own us forever. We just need to stick with our plan. The day will come when those guys up in southern Oklahoma falter. And when they do, it will be sweet. Especially for those experiencing things as they are now.
