He probably wanted to do it with the players out there and not let the Chiefs sub guys out but with the timeout they would be prepared for it.
Too many whiners and crybabies here. You take the points and make it a 4 score game. No need to giving the Chiefs any hope or momentum if you don't make the 4th down.
1) It was certainly a terrible spot. 2) I don't know if replay would have clearly given the 1st down, and I think (think, not sure) the rule is that if it's not a 1st down, it'll go back to the terrible spot instead of move closer. 3) I don't think BoB or his staff is aware of #2, or give them credit for being aware. 4) #3 isn't so important, because taking the 3pts isn't a bad choice.
I'm fine with the FG. You get points on a drive that ate up 5 minutes of clock. That's a success. If you get stopped there, that gives KC momentum. That's the last thing they need to do.
