Kaman with so much effort on both ends, really love it. Both teams with superb defense.

Great game, Germany came through when it mattered. Italy with 6/24 threes, no real philosophy. 0-2 now, end of journey. Germany can face Spain in the 2nd round, think we can win if Spain continues to play that bad.

Same old Italy. Their NBA players just ball hog too much, especially Belinelli.

I saw the first part of Germany/Italy. The announcer was way over the top.

He wasn't German and I think he wanted Italy to win. There was definitely some tension on the floor in the first quarter, no doubt about it. But he was way too excitable and loud. It was so bad that I went downstairs to fix lunch and heard him screaming. It sounded like there was a fight. I ran back upstairs and nothing special was happening.

Yes, the 2008 Olympics where (honestly to my surprise) D Wade still got every bit of his free throws in.

And the 2010 FIBA World Championships where Eric Gordon was looking like Dream Team Clyde Drexler.

It was great watching TP, but I wonder if Germany's coach decided to give up during the 3rd quarter when he wouldn't put Dirk and Kaman back in.

It was a questionable decision but they were not gonna win anyway.

The job Pietrus did on Dirk was outstanding, he should be the MVP of this game. I also liked the way De Colo played.

Nice win for France which to me is the strongest team.

YES! We're going to the next phase, hopefully Greece and Croatia wins today so we transfer maximum points to the second stage, where Russia, Georgia and Slovenia awaits us. Proud of the players very much!

Guys should watch Serbia-Germany, Teodosic dictatin the team and rackin up assists. Good team play. This guy is so far above Rubio it's ridiculous, when guys here say Rubio will be a superb player that'd mean Teodosic will be HoF.

Some NBA players have slightly better stats at EuroBasket than they do in the NBA, and some have slightly worse stats. On average, their stats are roughly about the same as what they would have in the NBA - in the general same range, especially since the numbers will drop across the board as the tournament progresses (the numbers are always inflated in the early stage).

With that being said, notice how glaringly one of them stands out from the others? Yep, Ricky Rubio. What a surprise. In general, the numbers are generally in the range of what they are in the NBA.......

so that pretty much shows you the level of player that Rubio is. This completely shatters the nonsense BS myths that DaDakota is spreading here that the stats in European basketball mean nothing (clearly this proves that awful stats in European basketball mean you are a bad player - no matter how much DD tries to spin it) and that,

the other myth DD is spreading around this forum that, "Rubio's stats will go up once he plays with NBA players" is also complete and total BS.

Playing for Spain's national team, which would blow out the Wolves by probably 30 points, he still plays like total crap. Oh and the other BS myth DD likes to claim here is "his assists are low because none of his teammates can finish because they are all Euro scrubs".

Yeah, Rubio sure is racking up the assists totals playing with those NBA players on the Spanish national team........

It's basically absurd how much most American basketball fans and most US sports media overrate Rubio.

Also, this pretty much puts DD's other myth that he spreads around here ALL THE TIME that "every NBA player dominates in Europe" to rest. It's like DD just over and over parrots every NBA only fan myth about European basketball that there is. Typical NBA only fan. Knows practically nothing at all about basketball, and yet pretends to be a total expert on it.

I haven't heard the US media overrate Rubio in YEARS... As far as I remember, most of the hype was somewhat justified, as the kid was 17. Since then, I haven't heard much bias at all. Who disagrees, outside of DD, that Rubio isn't ready for the big league? He is obviously not ready. That said, a non 7's offense will help him in the NBA, (Unless the Wolves get Adelman, who runs similar sets to the ones that Rubio struggles in...)

Pretty much as I told OHMMS before.

Here a lot of hype here is put into potential, not how good the player is but how good he can be...MAYBE.

In the NBA you can trade guys on potential alone and get good players back.

Watching Rubio now though his game has not grown much (if at all) from then but it's crazy because the dude is still only 20 years old and it feels like he's a vet now.

Any ways saw Valciunas play against Spain, he looks to be a very good big. If he bulks up some watch out! He did a near perfect skyhook over Gasol!

Problem is he actually degressed over the years, 16/17 year old Rubio had a lot more confidence on offense, tried more and was just all over the court. He's nowhere that level now.

Serbia vs. France today, hope Parker is able to play. Teodosic vs. Parker would be exciting to watch.
