So you're saying if we were sitting here 0-11 with 13 TDs and 9 INTs and 2 fumbles you wouldn't be on this site calling for Schaub back? or Bridewater, or whoever else Rick Smith was too stupid to pick up?

Don't get me wrong, we are in deep ****, but everyone acting like Carr was such an obvious choice and Brock is such a stupid answer clearly just looks at the 2 of them this season. And not just Carr, but anyone that came in here 0-11 after a season of 2-14.. Sure. we would have stuck with Carr as a fanbase and applauded the FO for the draft pick.

Osweiler has thrown for more INTs in 11 games this season, than Carr threw in his rookie year. By no means was Carr a stud his rookie year, but it was pretty clear from watching him, that he had a ton of talent. I don't see any talent with Brock...he's inaccurate, locks onto receivers, throws into triple teams, panics in the pocket, etc...Carr showed much more as a rookie with much less talent around him than what Osweiler is working with.

The comparison is not between Carr and Osweiler. The comment was that we would have been very disappointed and impatient with Carr as well. Can we just say "Brock sucks" without going "well they should have gotten Carr or we should have gotten Peyton or Brady or Montana"?

Let's not forget that he is playing behind one of the est offensive lines this season.

He's completely inaccurate, doesnt lead receivers, has to rifle everything, has no touch, cant execute quick plays when blitzes are coming...he's not good. And if we're judging value by value, the person we took over Carr is on this terribly bad oline not making a difference.

It doesn't matter what kind of line Brock plays behind, because he's not a good QB. I think we need to stop taking credit away from QBs playing behind good OLines (Dak/Carr)...bc the guy we have right now cant consistently hit a target, 10 yards away, with zero pressure on him.

The comment you quoted was about Carr not Brock. Brock sucks, we get it. He is horrible. I am not trying to compare him and Derek Carr. The point that was being made was that Carr was pretty bad his first year, and some here would have been ready to move on from him, but he has gotten much better coincidentally as his receivers and line have gotten better. All this we could have had Carr, we should have had Carr, is annoying.

Did I miss something? Were both Brock and Carr available free agents at the same time?

There is the concept that QB's can get "ruined" or develop awful decision making habits based on consistency poor line play.

Brock did better last year with a much better line... but he also wasn't getting hit as consistently or having to shorten his internal clock. Hell, I see a different QB now than what was there in pre-season or week 1... the consistent pressure has gotten to him, even on plays where there is zero pressure.

While David Carr had questionable work ethic and was likely never properly instructed on how to read a defense.... he likely does have a better career if he isn't made into a human piñata the second he came into the league.

Wasn't Denver's offensive line pretty terrible last year? The Texans oline situation isn't great but I don't see it as the monstrosity that people are making it out to be. Duane has been good for the most part since his return except for last week. Mancz has been surprisingly dependable and looks like he has a future as a starting interior lineman. Newton and Martin are hurt. Allen is new to the system but has been okay. XSF can run block at least. Chris Clark has been pretty terrible all around this year though. They definitely need help at OT in the offseason.

They wanted Jimmy G but thought they could wait until the beginning of the 3rd round to get him. They should've just taken him at the top of the second. Patriots bent us over as usual.

Brock had a terrible OLine with Denver, they were among the worst in the NFL...he got his butt handed to him on a regular basis. He got sacked 23 times in his 8 starts. He was essentially running for his life, getting sacked, or getting hurried on a very consistent basis. For comparison, Brock has been sacked 20 times in 11 games with Houston.

I do believe that QBs can be ruined...but Brock's issues don't have to do with OLine play...his issues are that he just isn't very good. I think Kubiak made the most out of Brock.

Forget about raw sack numbers. He's getting pressured much more here, with play-calls/routes that typically take way too long to develop.

That being said, if he truly had a bad O-line there, and is seeing a cumulative effect of that now, it sort of does put some blame on the O-line playing a role on a QB getting progressively worse the more he sees consistent pressure.

He was the last pick of the 2nd round. Sure, they should have just gotten the guy they wanted (or traded up if they thought there was a chance of somebody else stealing him), but they weren't THAT far off by presuming he may still have been available.
