Remember Brian Peters? He was a linebacker that O'Brien used for kickoffs last year because Novak was too weak. Promptly injured his quadriceps for that dumbass idea. Pretty sure he isn't audibling much
Blame the S&C coach. Jesus the kicker and punter are some of the LEAST injured players on a team.. he pulled a quad kicking.... same would happen running, or even tackling... forget it, you are set in this narrative.
Just when I thought you couldn't be any more confusing.... Oh I read it correctly. WTF is a "back up savior?!" A savior is a savior.
A back up savior is someone that could least b competent at giving hope to the team. He might not b as gud as the savior but he should be compentent. It's like u saying a there's no such thing as a back up qb, a qb is a a quarterback.
I once thought O'Brien had bought enough good feels with Deshaun Watson to keep him employed. Now I'm not so sure. If they get embarrassed by teams like the Cardinals, 49ers, and Colts; he might be gone.
Quickly approaching 4 pages. I see everyone is just counting down the hours until the exciting Tom Savage-Blaine Gabbert matchup!
Maybe an equipment manager has a freak arm injury and can suddenly throw 90yd passes with perfect accuracy. Or a towel boy learns to channel his anger for 10 sacks/game. Also I heard there's a free agent out there who could fetch a few wins... Spoiler
not saying much, but Gabbert is way better than Savage but if the Texans lose to Gabbert at home, keeping Savage as the starter is unsustainable similar to how it got so bad with Kubiak his final year that letting him coach out the season was unsustainable
O'Brien is staying for next year because neither party has a better alternative. The Texans don't know if another coach will be able to mesh with Watson as well as O'Brien did this year. O'Brien surely understands that his time with Watson was the only time that he has lived up to the hype as an offensive guru and there's a good chance he flames out in the NFL without him. Deshaun Watson is the literal savior, in that he is saving both Smith's and O'Brien's jobs for another year.
