Then that is on Luhnow, it was obvious he had to do something especially after doing nothing last year. Hell I said he had to just so his guys knew he had their backs... it was pretty obvious.
Yeah... basically 40% of the rotation is not the same (McCullers), his third best reliever is out (Harris), their second best hitter is out (Correa) and his catcher/DH (Gattis). That is a lot to overcome.
Yes they are being little babies. That is absolutely correct. Also, they are playing like complete garbage.
They are not struggling Just plain bad They will not spend the extra money on Velander because they are getting ready to pay for their own stars If they implode they do That's all and don't be shocked for 2 more swept series going the wrong way
We are dying right now but its not time to give up. Post trade deadline hangover + injuries to key guys have us reeling but that can change
I hope we turn it around, but given the situation and what has been going on as of late, a loss like this is real bad for team morale going forward.
Doesn't mean they can't still play better on offense and play smarter. 2 runs on 12 hits is terrible and those base running was one of the worst.
Six games ahead of BOS, with a 4-gamer @Fenway to end the regular season. Still confident if we're healthy for the playoffs.
The lack of urgency still shocks me.... especially when at one point, Mike Fiers was the best starting pitcher they had, while previously counted on key bullpen guys were struggling (Gregerson, Feliz)... and they still were counting on everybody just coming back healthy, staying healthy, and also pitching as great as they always had. Even when they miraculously grew their lead despite these events... a move for more pitching was not just expected, it was approaching afterthought status.... because everybody had fears about the starting staff coming back to form, everybody expected Mike Fiers to hit some regression, and now the best case scenario is that they all come off the DL and pick up right where they left off when healthy, and that's a seriously flawed expectation. But yeah, yeah... first of many years contending, not just best chance this year... if Keuchel isn't great, this isn't a WS team anyways... winter meetings are where more deals get done!... that stuff doesn't mean a lick to the players who will actually be responsible for obtaining/securing this mythical decade of dominance to come.
