The first morning all season I don't turn it on.

I can only hope they play it as often as they have the Cardinals.

Well he is highly touted in the Astros Organization <.< Like that means anything.

Also you can find the Astros 30 in 30 segment on this link.

Aghhh! Wandy looks terrible this Spring Season. He's coughed up 5 runs in 1 inning alone today!!!

I'm starting to think last year was a fluke.

    It's spring training don't worry.

Also after that first inning he was very solid.

Another nice offensive and pitching show today.

I've been pleasntly suprised by our offense so far.

Even if this is spring training.

looks like chris shelton is making a run at a roster spot assuming berkman starts the season on the DL.

So the full season was a fluke, but the handful of spring training starts is for real?

    Probably need about:
    - 35 wins out of the combo of Roy and Wandy.
    - 25 wins out of the combo of Myers and Norris
    - 10 wins out of the combo of Paulino and Moehler
    - 10 wins from the bully
That gets us to 80 wins, and from there, we hope for someone (Meyers, Norris, Paulino) to exceed expectations to make a run at the Wild Card.

It's spring, so hope springs eternal, right?

Oh no, not this whole counting wins for the team via wins for each pitcher again. Didn't we establish this was nonsense last year when someone said we'd lose 100 games?

For a start, our bullpen had 24 wins last year. The number of wins a bullpen gets is not really indicative of the quality of it.

Agreed, that's why I'm hoping they (the bully) don't pick up a lot of wins, and I'm more focused on how the starters do. If our bully has 24 wins combined, that either means we're blowing leads and coming back to win late, or we're a good late-innings team. Either way, it's a dangerous way to make a living.

For the Astros to have a good year, the starters have to pitch well and deep into games. I'm hoping that Mills doesn't have to wear out his bully by the ASG.

I want Roy and Wandy to start 30 games. It would be nice if Norris could too. If they get that kind of health, they can put up good numbers assuming their stuff/location is up to snuff.

For the Astros to have a good year, ...

Brian Moehler has to win the Cy Young.

Jason Michaels has to win the Triple Crown.

    Come on, now.

A good year for this team means staying relevant after the ASG and hopefully into the late summer. By no means is anyone saying they can win 100+ games, but just be in the mix for the wild card. If the Bourns and Pences can continue to improve and then Norris, Manzella, and Towles/Castro show that they've got a spot in the line-up that's progress, and a definite step in the right direction.

Can't get caught up in the World Series or bust mentality, sometimes incremental progress (in all areas of the team, majors and minors) is what you have to hang your hat on. The farm system is hopefully getting ready to show a return, hang in there - enjoy the ride.

Well, Gustavo Chacin probably won't be around much longer. 8 earned and 3 hr in 2 IP (he pitched to 3 batters in the 3rd). Granted it was an emergency start with Oswalt and Meyers sitting out.
