actually all those teams like the warriors and pats as of recent have all made it a point to say they didn't win a championship so in the end it didnt really matter
Depends how far they advanced in the playoffs. The '98 squad went out like b1tches. Time matters too. The further removed from the loss makes a difference in feelings.
Exactly. It does NOT happen all the time for the reasons you mentioned. You already knew it's less prevalent now due to the playoffs, yet you still gave an inaccurate response. The fact you deleted the remainder of his post -- namely his following sentence which regarded the playoffs -- and are now justifying your answer due to the playoffs makes your initial response even more silly. But since I'm the fairest poster on these boards, I'll acknowledge not already knowing 162 was less prevalent in baseball's past. Thanks for enlightening me. I was never arguing their non-disappointment. And again, baseball is a bigger crapshoot than football and basketball.. which is where this conversation began.
If it happens to ONE team, it happens to TWO. Teams don't play alone. So two teams counts as ONE occurrence in context. So, THREE in 2016 and ONCE the other 9 years. There's 15 opportunities each season... multiply that times 10 years, 150, and it's only happened FOUR times in 10 years. Man !!! ..... < 162 seems to happen nonstop. NOT
Calm down. Go back to arguing with the others about the meaningfulness of regular season W/L records. eta: but since you seem concerned, and a bit factually challenged, it also happened in 2015, 2011, 2009, 2008, etc....
You seem to be repping the "Championship or Bust" camp. Well.. there's 18 teams every baseball season whose regular season record prevents them from ANY chance at a championship. But you're correct... regular season is meaningless Edit: my bad... 20, not 18. Which helps my stance.
Hinch and Cole will decide an hour before the game whether he starts or not. Don't want him to get warmed up and then have to worry about him sitting through a delay.
1) Reddick, RF 2) Altuve, 2B 3) Bregman, 3B 4) Correa, SS 5) White, 1B 6) McCann, DH 7) Maldonado, C 8) Tucker, LF 9) Marisnick, CF
I’d like to see Correa show some semblance of a baseball player when he has a bat in his hand over the next few days. But I’m going extreme longshot and calling Correa for World Series mvp. Would also like to see Keuchel come in and pitch some shut out baseball since he’s been scuffling and it’s likely that he’s our number 3.
Rained out. For whatever reason (read: concession receipts and no travel) they're going to play a DH on Saturday. 1st Stros rainout of the season. 103 here we come.
What happens if it rains the rest of the week? Can they end the regular season playing only 158 games?
Weather should be fine by tomorrow afternoon. The fewest games played in a 162 game season was 159 by the '75 Orioles, and they had to play back-to-back DHs on the last weekend of the season to get that many in.
Honestly, I think having Cole's start pushed back a little may help. He's already gonna have 9 days off between starts if he goes game 2.
Or be rusty.... Let's just hope it means he has more of his A+ stuff and doesn't mess with his command!
LOL Try not to sound too puzzled #162happpensmuyoften Glad to hear. Hope everything comes to fruition soon
