Ferguson is an MLB player. I doubt he will ever have enough pop to be a starter, but he has consistently hit and gotten on base. Somebody will assuredly pick him if unprotected. Ferrell has been crazy inconsistent. He might be worth a flier to a terrible team. Aruaz is the most notable player, but there's no way he close to ready. Even on a terrible team trying to hide him as a backup infielder it's a big ask.

He lost basically a full year due to a shoulder aneurysm, and hasn't really recovered to be the prospect they thought he would be.

The only way Miami doesn’t come out of that looking monumentally stupid is if they were so close to a trade that they went ahead and DFA’ed him so they could add Anderson, knowing the Dietrich deal was agreed to. DFA’ing a player projected to make $5M and be a versatile above average hitter is just stupid. Honestly I think Dietrich is an equal player to Marwin; he’s a better hitter (especially if he’s somewhat limited against lefties), and he’s a better defender at 1B and 2B (Marwin is a much better LF and slightly better 3B, while neither should play SS more than a handful of games per year).
