I will say Young is the better player but I actually looked up their numbers and it's A LOT closer then I thought. Young is a hit machine but his OPS has been surprisingly low the last few years.

Edit - Pretty interesting, guy can hit but I thought he was a DH.

He is a DH but he can flat out hit. He probably wouldn't require more than a couple of million dollars on a one year deal. He has power, walks a ton, but he can't field and strikes out a lot. I think he could help this team. You could put him in left the Astros decide to put C.Lee at 1st.

Apparently the Angels are now in the pursuit of Lee. I hope this happens, because I dislike the Yankees and hate the Rangers.

With Lee the Angels are once again the dominant team in that division, and he would be a perfect fit in that rotation with Haren.

Jack Cust would be an excellent platoon candidate with Jason Michaels. His line against righties last year was .285/.410/.470. He also got 12 homers and 58 walks against righties in 281 at bats against righties (346 PA). Not to mention 101 strikeouts :-(. His defense is nothing to brag about either. He's probably on par with Lee in that sense. But he'd probably be the best fit we can get with this team, considering the other lefties available. You can all think of him as Lance Lite.

Yea, I can see the Angel being the darkhorse team that offered him 7 years. I would think they might look to move Weaver but their owner is VERY wealthy and may just want to go for it. Lee, Haren, Weaver and Santana is as good a 1-4 as there is in baseball.

Matt Diaz, a guy I liked for LF, signed with Pittsburgh.

I hope Cliff goes to the Angels just because I hate the Rangers. They wont be heard of again if that happens.

To be fair, they were in first place with a pretty healthy lead when they acquired him. They are a young, well run team. Yes, you will still hear plenty about them with or without Lee.

Yea but that was a weak division last year and the angels were dealing with some major injuries and the loss of Lackey. Replace lackey with lee and you've got an even better team.

Without Lee the rangers don't even make it past the rays in the playoffs.

Thats a great value for a guy that gets on at a rate that high. I don't think we would of really had a use for him. Not to familiar with his defense but I'm sure it would be awful in left field. Even worse than the Horse.

Cust in LF would make you beg for Carlos Lee, he is easily one of the worst defensive players I've ever seen. He can't even play 1B adequately and anyone with a pulse, 2 functioning hands & a glove can play 1B adequately with a little practice.

This is what I've read, which is why I was surprised the Stros were linked originally. I will say this, if the guy would have hit and gotten on base like his numbers suggested then a lot of those sins could have been forgiven considering LF isn't very hard to manage at MMP.
