Talk about the series here. Please no PBP in this thread. Unless otherwise noted all games are on CSN-H (for about 40% I guess). 6-17 Dallas Keuchel, LHP vs. Tanner Roark, RHP 6:05 6-18 Scott Feldman, RHP vs. Gio Gonzalez, LHP 6:05
Sipp is rolling his eyes at the NL game knowing he will most likely play an illogical at bat in left.
Here's the lineup today: CF Dexter Fowler (S) 2B Jose Altuve (R) RF George Springer (R) 1B J. Singleton (L) C Jason Castro (L) 3B Matt Dominguez (R) SS Jonathan Villar (S) LF Robbie Grossman (S) P Dallas Keuchel (L) Good to see Altuve back. Any idea why Villar infront of Grossman?
Keuchel not sharp tonight . . .maybe Bo will put him in left field to get his bearings, then bring him back in
Still way too much dead weight in the lineup for it to be consistent. The team depends almost fully on the 1-4 hitters.
Correa will fill SS but I am not sure that Santana will be able to solidify LF long term. We need an impact bat.
Can someone explain to me why the .632 OPS of Grossman since coming back from AAA is worth having on this team in any aspect of the game? I think we can get by without his huge 5 RBI in the same 17 game stretch. Sure, it is almost a full .100 points better than his first stint (silver lining?) but this guy is just not an everyday major leaguer. Then again... do you just play Presley and his .624 OPS instead? Maybe I just needed to rant, but I would rather see Stassi get called back up to DH and have Carter (that Carter) play left field. We are playing a man down by having Grossman in the starting lineup. Why not just bring LJ back? Can't be worse than this.
Be optimistic. There used to be a time when the Astros carried 9 deadweights in their lineup. That the number has dropped by about half now.
Fontana/Santana should really be given chances to come up and start full time. I think Fontana could at least post a .350 OBP and Santana will give us some pop every once in a while. Villar/Grossman are essentially worthless.
I'm optimistic... just not for Grossman. Villar is another story and at least he plays plus defense (nice to see that after last year). But Grossman, bright future or not for the club, is awful and hard to watch. I think there is nothing wrong with being discontent watching him play everyday. What has he done to earn that spot over anyone else?
How can Porter resist a tantalizing/juicy double-switch? Should bring in Sipp to play the OF, have a position player pitch, and have Marwin come off the bench to be the DH (as he will explain to the umpire that he desires to now insert a DH in this NL game).
