Totally agree. I think Huggy is finally being exposed this year. There's a reason the Mets fired him. No more Beltran, Cora, Powell, etc. and we can finally see he sucks. Get a real hitting coach with actual MLB experience, not some lousy guy with one hit. See if Carlos Beltran wants the job. If not, maybe we can snatch Brewers Asst. Hitting Coach Jason Lane and give him a promotion to Head Hitting Coach here? Or anyone else, Hudgens must go!
Couldn't agree more there has to be other talent down on the farm that can be brought up those other 3 have not been very good at all.
The Astros collectively cannot hit any Lefty Power Pitchers, it Starts with Springer, Springer is the worst of Striking out Foolishly, Helmet Flying Off, Slamming his bat. The leadoff hitter sets the tone but damn how many .220 hitters do we have in the lineup. Blake Snell, James Paxton, Chris Sale, David Price. If one team had that rotation Astros would score no runs and get swept Easily.
We have a lot of talents on this roster...and they couldn't hit and scored few runs in past two weeks. That's easy to convince that it is on hitting coach for unacceptable offense showing...
Right now o The scariest thing about this team is how they fare against teams with winning records. We beat up on Seattle and Oakland when both were struggling early on but when we faced those teams after they started playing winning ball we were crushed at home by Oakland and are now 2-3 against Seattle in our last 5. Bad record vs Yankees at 2-5. 2017 was absolutely amazing but this 2018 Team is a far cry from last year. Reddick and Gonzalez 2017 campaigns were clear aberrations. We are below average at catcher with stassi who has come down to earth and an old gimpy McCann. The most frustrating part is trading so many prospects all to improve pitching and defense... when it’s been so clear all season the offense had issues. Starting pitching was dominant and we saw last year you can work around a shaky bullpen. I’m shocked we went all in on relief help in spite of what we all saw last year. This offense is not going to score against good pitching in the postseason if we are fortunate enough to make it into the postseason. It’s just not.
McCann is old and gimpy and his offense was below average in 2018. Getting him back will not help the offense. He was having fits beating the shift in 2018. McCann has the heart but his body has taken a lot of abuse and is failing him. I’m sure the pitching staff would love to see him instead of stassi but either way you lose if you simply can’t score runs.
Yeah we missing correa and altuve but theres enough talent in the team to be hitting runs, springer, bregman, gattis, gurriel! hppe this dormant offence erupts into something big soon and destroys teams before we lose our top spot in division.
At least we’re not going against Kershaw this weekend. That guy would pitch a perfect game against us.
How easy was that win for Paxton last night? Only 82 pitches in 7 innings. Effortless. So many first pitch swings with weak weak contact and easy outs. Dude was coming off a back injury and 2 awful outings. He probably was bored it was so easy, This offense has been the worst in baseball post all star break. Serious serious underachieving to be in this position fighting it out for division with 2 teams who have so much less talent. We talk about Altuve and Correa missing 35 games combined but Cano has missed most of the season and Seattle is 2 games behind us in loss column. Every team has injuries not just us. It’s more about underachieving and poor trade decisions (go for all defense and no hitting) than it is about Altuve and correa missing a handful of games. By and large we’ve been very fortunate health wise.
