So, your QB in the first half of the first game threw 21 passes and only completed 2 of them. How do you feel about your quarterback at halftime?
50 degrees in april damn sign me up. Had i not logged in this morning, I would have been sitting around 9pm like an idiot waiting for the game. Love afternoon games.
You do know that 3 of 10 is great in baseball, right? 3 of 10 in football, not so much.... Passes are completed at a much higher rate than batters getting hits. He can go 4-4 this afternoon and be just below the league average.
Cross sports analogies are never going to be perfect. But the larger point is, its not too early to point out who isn't helping you. Gurriel and to a lesser extent Bregman are not. Is it time to panic? Of course not. It is time to begin looking at our depth chart though. On this note, why is Bregman still hitting #2?
No, for first question. For second question, of course it is not time to panic as you said in your post, but you likely were not convinced by your own argument.
Mookie Betts and miguel cabrera are both currently hitting exactly .100 That will change quickly as they have more at bats in their game today.
In baseball it's the golden rule of 60. You let a player get 60 at bats before you pull the hook on a change of pace or look for a tweek in the swing. By your logic, Lance Berkman would have never been more than a bench player because I don't think he ever had a good April.
If the move is to remove a guy who team expects to be one of best 4 hitters after 7 games while he is not striking out, that is panic. Even if he is the worst hitter for authority in the game (he's not), he's likely a starter with his contact skills and defense (though erratic so far). He just needs a grounder here and there to find a hole until he gets some landing over the fence.
