Boston has been the best team in baseball this year and I think they should be feared within reason. Their offense has been amazing and JD Martinez has been a godsend for them. They're number one in offense, second in pitching, and very close to catching us again in run diff. The one real weakness they have is their bullpen. I think what people forget and I include myself in that is the division they play in. They have benefited from playing in one of the worse divisions in all of baseball. It's really no different than what Houston had the luxury of last year except Houston didn't have a team like the Yankees in their division last year. With all that said, Houston has the best pitching in all of baseball. They realistically have probably the best bullpen in all of baseball with all of their new additions. You could make the argument the Yankees are better but I rank Houston higher with having guys like Peacock and McHugh who can go several innings. The offense is clearly not the same as last year but at the same time, you had guys like Marwin and Reddick who had career years during the regular season. You also have to add in the injuries that have also impacted this team's offense like McCann, Correa, Altuve, and now Springer. If Houston is healthy come October, there is no reason to doubt them not having a high likelihood of repeating as World Champs. There's a reason why they are still favored to win it all even with all of the success Boston has had this year thus far. If they can add a bat before the waiver line is up, I would feel that much better. Baseball postseason is a totally different animal compared to the regular season. I hope like hell we're healthy come October because if we are, I like our chances very much.
A's won and they are 5 games back. Come on Stros you need to sweep Mariners. They gave up twenty-two runs in the last two games.
Come on Mariners, you need to sweep the Astros. The Rangers swept them in 3 games and the Astros gave up 22 runs in those 3 games. (18 in the first 2) Signed Mariners' fan (Note - this is satire and I am far from being a Mariners fan)
Anyone else see Familia pitch for the A's yesterday? His stuff was filthy. 97-99 mph fastball with late tailing action and a nose diving 90 mph slider
The Rangers are 9-3 in their last 12. Hopefully, they can put some hurt on the Yanks in their 4 game series.
I'm actually hoping that the Yanks somehow get shut out of the playoffs and the Athletics and Mariners get the two Wild Card spots.
