Astros 5 for 12 w/risp Angels 1 for 12 w/risp That’s what happened. Greinke gave up 10 hits in 6 innings. I missed the game so someone tell me if geinke was hit hard.
He wasn't hit that hard...he had a couple of innings where he gave up multiple hits, got out of jams all night though.
Oh, I’m not talking about now. He just seems like a guy with a lot of natural power, with a swing conducive to a lot of groundballs.
Lot of weak contact which is his game. Only 1 K and only 2 ER. The strikezone was a little small for pitchers today as well. But he was fine. Gave us 6.2 innings, and he can do that consistently, because he's not expending so many pitches on Ks. 4-0 now as an Astro. Edit: He just gave the Angels credit for getting those 10 hits. Said they played a good game. I like that honesty.
May be purely perception (and small sample size and injuries forcing unusual lineups), but the defense seems like it’s been more prone to miscues when he’s started. He got 2 double play balls today, and there were probably two more that could have happened. It may also just be more opportunities, since we rack up like 13-14 Ks on days when JV and Cole pitch.
Yankees just hit a grand slam and lead 6-1. Prefer to catch the Yankees first but guaranteed to pick up a game on one of them tonight.
I don’t know man, I like what I’ve seen and we haven’t seen close to the best Greinke we will see. I love his approach when he’s in trouble and his ability to kill a potential big inning. Locates exceptionally well and keeps guys off balance. Maybe you’re just used to seeing overwhelming stuff with JV and Cole?
It’s worked out well but he has had a ton of baserunners, he’s given up 27 hits in 25 innings and as was pointed out by Houstunna his whip is 1.32 .Hopefully he is going to settle in and be fine going into the playoffs.
Regardless of his batting average, I think he has looked good. His skill set is better than I expected. He is quick and agile and gets down the line well. You can also tell he has confidence and gives effort. I am not saying he will ever be this good, but his game reminds me of Josh Donaldson.
