I'm aware of the different luxury tax levels and penalties. I'm going by the man's word. They aren't going into luxury tax levels... at least for this year.
I mean conceptually as in- doesn’t matter if we go over a little bit this year. But, it could lead to longer term ramifications.
Some numbers to chew on. 506 ..... that is Alvarez’ batting average in May 416 ...... that is Alvarez’ batting average this season 575 ..... Alvarez’ average with runners in scoring position
You're not any more of a stupid than you or I or anyone else is. I'm just tired of triangulating the bare minimum of bullshit.
I would rather not trade yuli this year. I think he is gonna get red hot soon and have a good year. He was slowed by the broken hand last year.
I like the optimism, but he's really more of a contact hitter. Excellent concentration while at the plate, but he has little power and rarely walks. And he's older than most of our core. I'd be fine with trading him this offseason to save some $$$ and clear out the logjam.
At some point, if triple A is too easy for him (or the teams they're playing really just have no high upside pitchers)... its a dis-service (as well as a negative for his development) to keep him at that level.
I agree. I just dont want to take AB's away from guys already producing at the ML level which includes 4 outfielders (Alvarez's position). This would be so much easier if Alvarez was a pitcher, catcher or first basemen.
Is something going on this year that makes teams think the deadline is passing earlier? Brendan Rodgers, Hiura, Austin Riley all called up this week, not to mention Corbin Martin. Just seems odd so many highly thought of guys would be brought up now if they thought there is a good chance it costs them millions down the road
I don't expect owners to give up any years of control. It would be too much of a disadvantage to small market teams. I think they will increase the salaries for pre-arb players.
I do think the players and owners will agree on something that eliminates the benefit of keeping players down past when they’re ready/needed.
