We all know that Yao has been working with WildAid for years. They have made a documentary lately and it will be aired on Animal Planet the coming fall.

As a Hongkonger, this easily becomes my favorite line from Yao out of all the words he has said:

[rQUOTEr]“It is stunning what China has achieved in the past three decades economically, and at least some of us have emerged as winners,” he said in an interview. “But our purchasing power is straining the resources of the earth.” [/rQUOTEr]

The man is so worldly, wise beyond his years and one of the best human beings on this planet. So much props to that man, the legend that is Yao Ming.

It is a huge problem. Elephants and Rhinoceroses are being slaughtered wholesale for their ivory and their horns. In the case of the Rhinos, some idiots in certain parts of the world having the mistaken and primative view that Rhino horn, ground up and digested, will help their sexual performance, a truly absurd notion. China consumes far more of both Elephant ivory and Rhinoceros horn than any other nation, as the author about this tragedy and Yao's splendid attempt to help end it points out. Who better to stand up tall and help to end this than our own Yao Ming?

    Kudos, big fella!

Yao and Dikembe should have a reality show where they go around the world raising awareness for social causes.

But I'd feel bad for whoever would have to be doing the subtitles.

In before someone says the obligatory "Can he still play 10 mins a game for us? He is only 33 after all".

Soo freaking sad that this happens around the world :(

Yao is the perfect example of how professional athletes and or international celebrities can continue to make a difference outside of their profession and or when they are retired.

Keep getting those WINS off the court BIG man!

Amazing and sad video....I hope Yao can make a difference.

His English is excellent now btw. I'm glad he has moved on from the NBA. He is doing much more important work.

    Don't get me wrong.

I think this is an important cause but something tells me this offseason is boring as hell when we are talking about wildlife protection instead of basketball.
