People are seriously underrating Rondo here.

You get Rondo, you get a championship with D12 and Harden alongside. Okay, maybe not this year, maybe not with McHale as head coach.

I like Lin. I'm a fan. But people are seriously over-hyping him right now. He's been playing out of his mind. This is the time to sell high. Asik + Lin + fillers for Rondo is an absolute STEAL, you'd be nuts not to go for it. I doubt the celtics bite though.

Well, you obviously didn't read. Because Rondo's assitss were much BETTER than CP3s. Especially the close-shot assists. Which is funny because everyone here automatically dismiss having two non-shooters on the team. Yet Rondo could get his teammates plenty of close shots despite not being a great shooter.

Also, those HOF shooters couldn't run worth a damn. Rondo never gets any assists the way Lin and other guards of fast paces teams get. Without the big 3, Rondo could actually have teammates that run the floor.

I think the combinations of what it will take to get Rondo (IF Morey even wants Rondo, which we don't really know if he does) will depend on how many picks Morey is willing to stack into the deal.

Morey has a deep war chest of picks, the real question is how highly would he value Rondo that he would dig into those picks. Rondo is a very good PG, but is he even a top 5 PG right now?

Would Morey be looking more towards a PF? Or even an All-star 3?

Morey has a lot of options of pieces to fit into the puzzle, and Rondo might not be good enough for Morey to go deep into his bag of tricks.

It's hard to compare the two teams since we don't run the same type of offenses. You can't just plop Rondo into our system/players and expect the same results he's always played with two or three of KG, Allen or Pierce. If you take Rondo out of the line up they still usually won. You take CP3 out and his team is blah.

    Rondo
    Games(W-L)PCT = Games w/o Rondo regular season (2006-2012)
    475(290-185) 61% = 82(48-34) 59%

    with Rondo = w/o Rondo
    2012 - 38(18-20) 47% = 43(23-20) 53%
    2011 - 53(31-22) 58% = 13(8-5) 62%
    2010 - 68(47-21) 69% = 14(9-5) 64%
    2009 - 81(49-32) 60% = 1(1-0)100%
    2008 - 80(62-18) 78% = 2(0-2) 0%
    2007 - 77(62-15) 81% = 5(4-1) 80%
    2006 - 78(21-57) 27% = 4(3-1) 75%

    CP3
    Games(W-L)PCT = Games w/o CP3(W-L)PCT regular season (2005-2012)
    555(323-232)58% = 85(38-47) 45%

    2012 - 70(50-20) 71% = 12(6-6) 50%
    2011 - 60(37-23) 62% = 6(3-3) 50%
    2010 - 80(45-35) 56% = 2(1-1) 50%
    2009 - 45(23-22) 51% = 37(14-23) 38%
    2008 - 78(47-31) 60% = 4(2-2) 50%
    2007 - 80(55-25) 69% = 2 (1-1) 50%
    2006 - 64(31-33) 48% = 18(8-10) 44%
    2005 - 78(35-43) 45% = 4(3-1) 75%

I'm not crazy about getting Rondo but with his talent, I'd take him if we don't have to give up any picks. You can have Asik, Lin, and one of our PFs. But Ainge probably would scoff at that offer unless we included a first rounder.

Who did Rajon Rondo play with?

Hundreds of pages about Rondo on these boards and literally nobody is mentioning that Rondo has played with the likes of Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett for the bulk of his career.

Rajon Rondo is a good player, but it is very hard to separate his accomplishments from the sheer production of his teammates. Go on Youtube and watch Rondo's full-game highlights (not the spliced highlights of his most spectacular plays, but the full highlights of his single-game performances). Count the number of times he gets an easy bucket or easy assist because at least one guy on the court demands more than one defender's attention. Then multiply that by two or three, and see how often defenses break down while Rondo is literally doing nothing but dribbling at the top of the key, because everyone else on the team is moving and it's almost impossible to stay on guys like Pierce and Allen and Garnett when they are trying to get free. The same goes for defense - watch how easy it is for a guy like Rondo to play man defense when you surround him with defensive positioning wizards. He doesn't have to think about anything except keeping his man in front of him and funneling him to the big.

I'm not saying that Rondo is a bad player. What I am saying is that basketball is a team game, and people seem unnaturally high on Rondo based purely on box score watching (i.e., fantasy points) and ESPN highlights. I would be very hesitant, in such a guard-heavy league, to do something like trade Lin for Rondo. You have no idea what you're getting in return (while you have a very good idea of how Lin will produce for your team), and it does nothing to address the more serious positional needs of the team (such as a true PF option).

I'll take dragic. He was a beast with us and he scores in bunches. He brings that tough mentality that this team lacks. And Lin and Bev suck to me.

Lin was the player of the week. He doesn't suck, he's a young point guard that will only get better with time. It's time to slow down on the random video -game minded trades and let this team evolve together.

Does this even makes sense to any of y'all?
Why is Shumpert's name getting thrown out there in rumours for guys like Faried, Rondo and possibly Asik.
Makes absolutely no sense to me.
I like Shumpert and all, but he's not even close to any of those guys.
All NY media bull if you ask me

We don't know why Asik is feeling the way he is. It could be a reasonable reaction to something that he was told.

Why do you people who want Rondo continuously over look the fact that his knee is F'd up... Lol.. Maybe a year or two before he ever gets right _ IF he does... And Howard isn't KG and Harden is not going to let Rondo dominate the ball...

A trade like that Morey will have to run by Harden... And I bet Harden would rather have Lin over Rondo. He already has a center in Howard with no offensive skill set and now you guys want to add a freaking point guard who can't shoot.... So ridiculous...

    asik + lin = Rondo 50/50
    asik + bev = Rondo 100%

Locker room ?- yes I want him there, he is a leader, he stands up and demands respect, if he can get respect from kg & pierce he can for sure with d12, dont know everyone wants friendly players in the locker room, bev is a tuff guy but he hasn’t won anything so hes not in a positions to have certain expectations for his teammates. Lin likes to win just like rondo and I think he can be that player also to get teammates together but truth is parsons, harden, d12 just doesn’t give him that kind of respect he deserves. When harden ISOs too much or when d12 is not giving full effort or when parsons is slacking on D it’s no one here not even McHale that is willing to check them.

Perfect situation would be…. Lionel Hollins + Rondo

I'm not even a big Rondo fan, but if they trade him for Shumpert and Amare that would be a horrible deal for Boston. I have no idea what the market is for Rondo, but it has to be better than that.
