As it sits right now, assuming the Shaq trade.

    1. San Antonio
    2. Minnesota
    3. Sacramento
    4. Houston
    5. Memphis
    6. Denver
    7. Dallas
    8. Phoenix
    9. Lakers
    10. Hornets
    11. Utah
    12. Portland
    13. Seattle
    14. Golden State
    15. Clippers

I think Rox will be in the top4 next year, if we could acquire a nice pg and an ok backup C. Our squad is just one of the best in the league. Of course, this is on paper right now.
I think SA,Minny,Hou,Sac will be the top4 and ther order of ranking could shuffle. Mavs,Griz,Nuggs,Suns,Lakers are very close IMO. It's going to be hell of battle to get that playoff berth.

    Thoughts?

No way Utah is going to be in top4, ..., damn Utah, curse is on. :D
Sac slips to #8? A Webbless Sac was #1 for a long-while in the past season.

I think Utah will be really, really good with Kiri getting even better and Boozer and, of course, Sloan coaching them.

With regards to Sac-Town...I figure their time has come. Divac (if he stays) is past his prime, and so is Doug Christie - Bobby Jackson as well. If Bibby and/or Stojakovic get hurt, my prediction could be not that far off...

Really curious where the various sites/networks will place us in their powerrankings just before the season starts.

Why would Houston be ahead of Sacramento? Let's see:

Mike Bibby vs. T.Lue. Advantage Kings.
    D. Christie vs. T-Mac. Advantage Rockets.
    Peja vs. JJ. Advantage Kings.
Webber vs. Juwan Howard. Advantage Kings.
    Miller vs. Ming. Advantage Rockets.

    Playoff experience: Advantage Kings.

Now of course, they also have Bobby Jackson who is as tough as they come.

Age factor. Big advantage to Rockets!
We have a new look now. The previous squad was just a whip boy of Sac. We were the opposite of what they were, of course of the losing end. With this new team, hmm, I think we can challenge them seriously.
But I still put Sac ahead of us just because they beat us so badly the last two season, some respect gotta to be given. :)

What do you guys if Kobe is a Clipper... how do you guys think that might effect the rankings?

Is this ranking assuming that Houston makes some more moves? Because until they plug the holes at PG and backup C I don't see them higher than 5 or 6. If they can get Jones or Fisher at point, and find a quality backup C somehow, then maybe as high as #3 in the West is reasonable.

Also, why would the Lakers fall all the way to #9? Assuming they keep Kobe, seems to me they can still put a pretty formidable, (not to mention fast) lineup on the floor with the addition of Odom, Butler, and Grant. Can't see them falling out of the playoffs.

Clip then will be good, Brand+Magetty+Kobe is a fearsom squad.
They could be a playoff contender, but not going to shake up the elite's order. For the Lakers, they would get themselves a Miami squad without Wade, but Pay-ton. :D
I think Kobe's going to stay, but you neve know, especially his agent also represents Boozer.

Regarding Lakers, basically it's Kobe and Odom, I dont know about that. I just cannot imagine how this is going to work out for them next year. Also knowing Rudy, I think they going to run ISO a lot. To me, they could be a lot like what we were prior to Yao's arrival.
Remember, when Shaq was out for half season two years ago, Kobe's Lakers couldnt do a thing even he was scoring like mad to catch up Mac. Now it's his team now, he is going to HOG the ball. :D
