I've been wondering about this. The most sensible rationale for bringing in Melo, and the most sensible rationale for Melo coming here, is that the larger idea is to play each of our scorers for fewer minutes. That would improve performance per minute, reduce injury risk, and extend their careers.
I like the whole James Johnson and dion waiters for Ryno idea. If they do it at the deadline, then they might not have to throw in any picks. I think that they also need to sign Gordon to a couple more years. Hopefully Butler just can’t take it anymore and asks to be traded from a struggling wolves team. The Rockets could then trade an extended Gordon and Melton/picks for Butler. CP3/Waiters/MCW Harden/Green Butler/Ennis PJ/Melo Capela/Johnson
Who said anything about MDA playing everyone available? MDA doesn’t like tinkering with his key guys as the season progresses. He likes to have his “guys” and to play them. Adding another key guy at the deadline (i.e a 30 minute starter) isn’t something he likes doing. In fact the only time MDA has publically slighted Morey was over the DMO contract issues. MDA likes to know who he will and will not have.
Melton is fine for basically a 3rd string PG, I would rather have a young player in that position, the team is already very vet heavy. I'm not sold on Ennis being the 3&D solution, I wouldn't mind adding a guy in that role. Backup center, meh. Its not like they are ever gonna play.
We just need to make better use of one.. 20 million dollar contract.. One Solid deal.... Come on Morey!
1) trade ryan anderson/first to miami for James Johnson and ..... this is a realistic ryan anderson trade and it allows us to get a wing in James Johnson that can play and guard 3-5 who provides some three point threat and an elite driving presence 2) sign a bought out wing like Demarre Carroll using remainder of T-MLE..... we need more defense and this is the way to get it this buyout market is loaded with wings and we are the most desirable location with playing time and prestige and money availible. It's basically a pipe dream but, if I were Morey I'd only give them Anderson, a first round pick, rights to a European player, and a young player we drafted i.e. Vincent Edwards.
