Agreed. There are lots of other good reasons not to vote for Ran Paul or take him for more than a simplistic semi-libertarian/ Tea Party ideologue.
Unless he completely blows it, Chris Christie looks very strong for 2016. Or maybe Scott Walker, Jeb Bush or another governor will step up. Rand Paul. Marco Rubio. Ted Cruz. They are 2016's version of the GOP Freak Show.
I agree Christie is the GOP's best shot in 2016. Whether he can get through the primary is another question.
Chris Christie or Jeb Bush would actually be good candidates in terms of helping heal the nation, IMHO. I don't think Walker has much of a chance, but maybe the two I'm advocating have no chance in the asylu-- er primaries.
I thought this was a silly story and really just made me wonder why Paul's speechwriters are scouring Wikipedia reviews for their speech material. But this might be growing - now, it turns out he plagarized part of an op-ed that he wrote too: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/fresh-plagiarism-charges-raised-against-rand-paul
He should at least use TurnItIn.com or a host of other easy options for checking such stuff. I mean, before you author a column in a major newspaper? Still doesn't move the needle for his core supporters.
I heard that Rand Paul is writing a book about running for president. The first line reads: "Call me Ishmael..."
"In Kentucky, it was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity..."
Good point here: Whatever you think of Rand - and it seems most here think he's a bumbling idiot, and that's fine - this is a good point. If you are presenting an idea not widely-held, you have to hold yourself to much higher standards than those who disagree with you, especially if the idea is concerning politics or other sensitive subjects.
After Plagiarism Charges, Paul Announces Office Restructuring Acknowledging that his office had “made mistakes,” he said he was putting a new system in place to ensure that all of his materials are properly footnoted and cited. “What we are going to do from here forward, if it will make people leave me the hell alone, is we’re going to do them like college papers,” he said. “We’re going to try to put out footnotes. We’re going to have them available. If people want to request the footnoted version, we’re going to have it available.” Mr. Paul also said he could not rule out that other examples of past plagiarism would come out, but he unequivocally added that no staff members would be fired.
she gets all the stories first. after she highlighted the chaplain in congress, you started seeing him on other sites a week later
It's a totally good point and another barrier to a viable third party. The default setting will be the assumption of weird, so anything less than perfect will immediately get amplified as "weird." Agree 100%. Also, though, some things and ideas are just genuinely weird.
