NFL Scouts think Teddy Bridgewater could challenge Clowney for 1st overall pick in 2014?

Todd McShay just said Bridgewater reminds him of a more polished Eli Manning. I have to admit i have not watched this kid play before, but i just find it funny that McShay who historically kinda hates on black qb's would not compare him to RG3 or Vick( like most of the media usually does with black qb prospects), which im not mad at. Just thought it was intresting that Eli was the first name that came out of his mouth for a comparison.

Has anyone seen Bridgewater play before, ive seen a few tapes on him on youtube and he seems to have great pocket awareness and a strong accurate arm, and he doesnt run as much as you would think he does( but he can)

Before the Sugar Bowl Florida HC Will Muschamp stated after watching tape of Louisville that Teddy Bridgewater would be by FAR the best qb they would faced all year. Keep in mind that the Gators and their #3 ranked defense faced Johnny Manziel and EJ Manuel earlier that season.

Louisville fans are eagerly focused on the potential that awaits in 2013, both for their team and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

But there is an unspoken question looming, one that will soon confront both the Cardinals and Bridgewater: Is this his final season at Louisville?

While much of the attention on underclassmen in college football has focused on South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, Bridgewater has the potential to be a top pick in the NFL draft in 2014, too. ESPN Insider Travis Haney explored this topic further in a recent piece, with some pretty great insight.

In talking to some NFL draft experts, they all agree Bridgewater goes into this upcoming season as the No. 1 junior quarterback in college football. And had he been eligible, he most likely would have been the No. 1 quarterback taken in this year's draft, too. Some of that is due, in part, to the relatively weak quarterback class in 2013. But most of that is due to what Bridgewater can do.

One draft analyst told Haney, "Don't take anything away from him. The kid can play."

It doesn't take a longtime draft expert to see that, but Bridgewater's development into a first-round pick is a product of not only his own hard work and dedication but of the coaches around him. The bond he has formed with offensive coordinator Shawn Watson is undeniable. Bridgewater wants to be pushed; and Watson wants to push him as hard as he can.

As Haney writes, there are plenty of highly regarded high school quarterbacks who never translate their talent into a first-round selection in the draft. Bridgewater is sure to do that should he continue on his upward trajectory, because he has the natural talent, skills and work ethic. But perhaps above all else, Bridgewater is extremely coachable, mature and self-aware.

All those traits, coupled with a stellar junior year, and Bridgewater could end up saying an early good-bye to Louisville. In the meantime, there is an entire season's worth of games to play. The focus remains there.

Law of averages probably means he and Manziel will be good ones.

Just because I think every QB taken in the first few rounds in this year's draft will amount to nothing in the NFL.

Teddy 5 isn't compared to them simply because he doesn't run. He hates to run. He stays in the pocket, and will rarely ever scramble. I don't know if anyone can beat out Clowney for the #1 spot, but if anyone has a chance, it's Bridgewater.

Poor Man's RG3, I still like him but Robert can throw and run better.

I like the fact that he doesn't run much at all.

He's not a scrambler like RG3. He's mobile like Aaron Rogers. He has great feetwork and an arm with alot of upside. Bridgewater just oozes potential. (I watched 3-4 games of Lousville this year.) Louisville will be a contender for NC next year.

Maybe that will translate into a good rookie class for CF.

It all depends on has the number 1 pick. If a team has a good prospect quarterback, they'll pass and stick with clowney.

I don't think he's anywhere near as dynamic with his arm or legs compared to RG3. Particularly arm-strength.

If Clowney isn't injured, there is zero chance Teddy Bridgewater is drafted ahead of him next year. IMO, it's silly talk to suggest otherwise.

lol understandable. Basically Stephen A. is saying Bridgewater doesnt play againist SEC competition so that hurts him as a prospect in his eyes, and Skip turns around and says that Johnny Manziel will be the most polarizing player to enter the draft since Tim Tebow, he also says that Manziel reminds him of a combination of Doug Flutie with Michael Vick like quickness. lol same ole ESPN

There is something about how he throws the ball that seems odd. Also I never remember him making audible reads at the line at Louisville. He did always seem to make the right read though and had excellent Pocket awareness.

Not saying he won't become a great NFL QB, but he always felt like a "potential" player, someone that could become that in a few years, taking the reins as part of a good organization in year 2 or something. Not really the Luck/RG3/Dalton/Wilson type of player.
