Who Dat! Guess now that the Saints are in the Super Bowl it's a big enough target for the NFL Empire to go after. Sorry, but this public domain chant/slogan should not belong to the NFL. It belongs to the people who started it. Classless move by the NFL. Extra helping of classless going after a city who is having enough of its own problems without the big bad NFL coming in and trying to get a piece of the pie. NFL = No Fun League
How did it end up when Donald Trump applied for the trademark of "You're Fired!"? Here's an article from 2004 about Trump's application for the trademark, with an excerpt from an intellectual property attorney: "It would be easy to trademark a phrase that had not been used on clothing for use on clothing, as long as the mark is not descriptive of the product or somehow generic..." That description seems to differentiate the issues of "You're Fired!" compared to "Who Dat" but will be interesting to see how the NFL attempts to pull it off. Might be overstepping their boundaries, but it's good business sense for them in my opinion.
Are you surprised? Last year the NFL prohibited a church from showing the Super Bowl because they didn't pay the fee to show the game to a large number of viewers like bars do.
I like that in the report it says they are going to print T-Shirts that say: "WHO DAT say we can't print who dat!"
