Hey you guys. I'm in Spring Woods High right now and the other day I got a letter. It said me and 29 other people from different HS's were picked as US Student Ambassadors for the City of Houston, and that we were invited to go on a trip to Wales, England next summer and stay with a Euro family for the summer. Then we do a report, keep a journal etc.. and we we turn in our report for extra credits in HS. Now, what type of price would they be asking to go? It says that there will be a meeting somewhere in November and they'll give us more details.I am excited to go show them my US pride and wreck havoc until they decide to send me back And I don't want to wait that long because I don't want to be heartbroken. I'm thinking the price range should be about 1000-2500 dollars right? Give me some advice wheter (did I spell that right?) to go or not to go. And for you people in college. Would that kind of a trip look good to colleges when I'm a senior? ------------------ Francis out top, 9 seconds on the clock, he gives a no look pass to Cuttino Mobley, 4 seconds left, Mobley passes to an open Langhi in the corner with 1 second left! Go for it man. Unless you are the type of person that will sit there and cry from being homesick. This type of opportunity doesn't come along everyday. And yes, this will look extremely good on your transpcript for college. ------------------
Go! Go! Go! Go! Jump on this opportunity! You will never have an opportunity like this again, and you will never be able to go so inexpensively as you can with a school group. Later in life, it will be very hard to take the time for something like this. It will also be a long time before you will be able to afford a trip to Europe on your own. Take this opportunity now! Enjoy this while you have the chance! Go for it! ------------------ Stay Cool... [This message has been edited by dc sports (edited September 09, 2000).]
I'm gonna try to find the letter so I can tell ya'll what organization it's from. ------------------ Francis out top, 9 seconds on the clock, he gives a no look pass to Cuttino Mobley, 4 seconds left, Mobley passes to an open Langhi in the corner with 1 second left! When I was in high school, I got a similar letter that said I "qualified" to be a sent to Australia as a foreign exchange student. I just ignored it because it would probably put me down two grand or so. I believe you have the correct figures pricewise. I agree that the ambassador program would be quite impressive to submit on a college resume. If there is an address (e-mail or snailmail) or a telephone number, utilize it. ------------------ [This message has been edited by rock (edited September 10, 2000).]
I had a chance in High School also, and didn't go. I really regret it. Even if it costs a few thousand dollars, which is a lot of money, you will never have the opportunity again to go so cheaply. It will cost much, much more to go on your own, and you wouldn't get the same experience that you would being escorted by a hand picked group. Plus, after high school, it will be very difficult to put the time aside. Grab this opportunity. You can always find sponsors and fundraisers to help with the money -- and you can work part time. This chance probably won't happen again. Go for it!!! ------------------ Stay Cool...
