First off I didn't even think Foster was on the table, he's been with Virginia Tech since 87 and Beamer may be on the way out here soon. I find it hard to believe he would leave after all that time unless it's for more money.

My gut tells me he's using TAMU as leverage to give a firm date on the head coach opening or earn a raise from $550,000-ish which TAMU certainly would increase to at least $750,000.

But if there was ever a time to leave that program and you knew you didn't have the immediate lead on the HC spot, the timing has never been better.

If we do get him though... that'd be fun.

Texas Tech sort of has an opening at DC. Mike Smith hasn't yet been named the DC. Was an interim.

That'd be pretty random. He's refused to leave VT for years now. Why leave now? Would be a great hire, though, if true, but I'd be surprised.

Gary Patterson voted coach of the year. Hell of a turn around for TCU.

I'm not sure what surprises me more...that Bud Foster may be interested in taking a DC job after he's likely had opportunities to leave to be a head coach and turned them down in the past or that Bud Foster's name was thrown around by A&M in the first place.

Don't get me wrong, Foster is still highly-regarded as a DC, but he's been so hesitant to leave Blacksburg that I think most more or less assumed he'd only change jobs when Beamer retires, rather that's to another school or taking over for him.

Is Pelini's buyout tied to whether or not he finds another job? If so, this move is even more strange because I doubt YSU is paying anywhere in the neighborhood of what Nebraska was.

Then again, I suppose maybe it's noble that he just loves coaching so much that he's willing to go to the FCS level to find a landing spot.

He's so underpaid though that it's a given he'll be getting a raise somewhere. I'm sure Tech steps up and pays him. If not then he's missing out on near doubling his salary and no state income tax.

There's buzz that Foster is in line for a serious raise at VT given all the potential destinations that have interest in him. Not sure if that's true or not, but it would make sense.

I don't get this at all. Two or three steps backward for him.

Andersen is also a west coast guy. Most all of his coaching history comes in that part of the country. Granted, he was by all accounts doing a good job at Wisconsin, but when he was hired, it did seem like a strange fit for him to take a job in the upper Midwest.
