What an absolute c***. Sorry Steve. You aren't Popovich. You're just an idiot when you do it. Can somebody say scared? Already knew they were going to lose.
Yeah, exactly. They were probably going to lose anyways, so why not use it as an opportunity to rest? Kerr said he consulted with the training staff and they told him it would be the most beneficial game to rest players.
This whole resting of players business is getting out of hand. It's bad for the NBA. Not sure what can be done about it.
This I agree with. They could reduce the amount of games and/or back-to-backs, but other than that, nothing they can really do.
The NBA could easily make a rule combating this. Something along the lines of you can only rest a maximum of 1 or 2 non-injured players a specific amount of games per year (a very low amount) And if teams try to say 4 players are injured, then the NBA brings in their own medical staff to assess whether they're being lied to. Simple. Obviously won't happen. But not too difficult to combat.
What would be the penalty for violating the rule? Automatic loss? Obviously, the teams don't care about that by resting players to begin with. Fine? Doubt that would make a difference either.
Wait seriously he said "master"? An African American player called his Caucasian coach master? Wow surprised this isn't blowing up all over the web....
Yeah I agree with both of those things. Would be hard to penalise which is why it won't ever happen. Me liking to see things shaken up, the team (Spurs in this instance) who another team (Warriors in this instance) try to flout the rules and rest someone against illegally, gets to choose a game said player (so say Curry is rested without being injured in my made up scenario) sits in the future. So in the future the Spurs and Warriors play again which the one game determines who will get the #1 seed. Spurs can choose this game as the penalty that Curry has to sit out (when obviously the Warriors would choose to be at full strength)
Eh, that only works in this instance. What about all the times LeBron has sat against random teams on a back-to-back? I don't remember the exact teams, but I don't think they were very good, and they could probably give 2 chits when/if LeBron sat in the future. I really don't think there's a way to stop this unless they get rid of back-to-backs. Logistically, not possible without giving up $, which we know the NBA won't do.
Yeah that's just my farfetched outcome. You're right in the East where it doesn't mean one bit of difference most seasons that LeBron sits another game. Heck, the Cavs would probably purposely do it just to give him more rest. It is utter BS though that us fans are robbed of a good game tomorrow because a coach doesn't give one sh*t about fans.
