I think he will be a spark in our lineup and we go on a tear.

I don’t think Straw will play all that much. He’ll be a defensive replacement/sub/reserve in the outfield and and an emergency SS. The players I expect to absorb most of the ABs while everybody is hurt are Fisher, White, and Kemp. And obviously Marisnick and Reddick will play everyday now. This is a golden opportunity for Fisher to show he can play everyday in the majors and audition for other teams to accept him as a headliner or co-headliner in a trade for SP.

The Astros have already been on a tear going 19-5 in their past 24 games. Hopefully the tear continues. We don't play an above .500 team until June 20th.

A's technically have a record over 0.500 for a few more days.

Good catch. I guess I'm expecting the Astros to sweep the A's. Wow, I just noticed the A's have been playing very well lately.

What's it going to take for Yordan to get a callup????

Luhnow to stop being a chicken. Though, I would not expect the Astros to send down someone that can serve as a MI replacement to call him up.

Yep. I have no problem if someone wants Alvarez to replace Fisher. Correa going down and Luhnow being a chicken are unrelated topics.

Interesting that Straw hasn't really played shortstop in the minors until this season. 5 errors in 93 chances.

Chicken why? Because he is being smart? The extra year of control is worth more than what you might get out of Yordan over the next week or so.

Yea this is all about Super 2, I don't like it, but I fully understand it. If Alvarez does what everyone here wants him to, then bringing him up before the Super 2 date passes would cost us 8 figures in the long run. Would be stupid to cost yourself 10 Million + just to see him here a couple of weeks earlier

The system suck and needs to be changed, but until it is this is the only way to do it

Has nothing to do with years of control, that deadline passed a while back. It's about Alvarez getting an extra year of arbitration and the millions that would cost the team....assuming Alvarez does what we all want him to

He wouldn't have to. Put Yuli at 3B, Bregman at SS, Kemp at 2B, and Yordan at 1B. Or you could put White there and have Yordan DH. Keep Fisher and Mayfield on the bench.

Okay extra year of cheap control, still worth it.

First, Straw will be on the playoff roster for base stealing alone, so this will be another good test to see where else he may contribute in our title run.
Second, this will test our commitment to aggressive base stealing analytics. Kemp, Straw, and I guess Marisnick. It's not quite the same without our big bats to bring them in, but still, we will get into the new mindset a little more.
Third, hate to say it, but this is looking exactly like last year. medically challenged.
