Nowitzki is not Anglo; he's germanic, even though he looks like a Beach Boy. They never surfed either.

I would rather have dave cowens in there at center, or maybe a healthy bill walton. And at the point, there is no way I would put kidd over john stockton (even though I hate him) or mark price (when he was healthy).

Isn't it unfair that the celtics had three of those guys all at the same time. That's why they beat the rockets in the finals.

Good points. But Sabonis of 7 years ago could give mikan a run for his money.

I also dont give quite as much respect to former players who played in the 50's or 60's because the talent level wasn't as good it is now.

IMO Kidd would be right up there with cousy if he had played in the same time period.

Germanic?? I think you mean German

    lol

Gater-Maravich was a 2, and this guy was the orignal human highlight reel.
    My all-time team would be:
    Bob Cousy
    Pete Maravich
    Rick Barry
    Larry Bird
    Bill Walton
This team could play with any all-star team, Anglo, African American, Slavic, Germanic, or MonStar.

silent j, how could you leave jerry west off that list? He was arguably the greatest player of his generation, and possibly one of the top 5 of all time.

West and Pistol Pete played the same position, I couldn't have both. West was an amazing shooter for a guy who was 6-2, but his game was so fundemental it was almost boring. Maravich had fun. He and Cousy completed the flashy passes Jason Williams only tries to make. They were the NBA's first "entertainers". And Maravich averaged 44 points a game through his college career if I'm not mistaken. No one can deny West was great, I just prefer Pistol Pete.

Jerry West's fundamental basketball may have been 'boring' to some people, but it was far more successful than the flashy Pistol Pete (who never won any championships if i'm not mistaken).

Good point, but I still think West was a far greater player.

Kevin McHale obviously gets was a better than average PF. But what about Bob Petitt? or Jerry Lucas for that matter?
