In Regards to the Chromatics, I think it's fairly expertly crafted dream pop. Not really anything completely unique that hasn't been done before, but it's of a type and quality that I feel is pretty rare in the past twenty or so years.

The phoniness doesn't really come across to me in the music, which is all I really care about. I've read a lot about Robert Smith actually being a fairly happy guy who is happily married to his 14 year old high school sweetheart. But I'll be damned if the Cure's music doesn't still punch me in the gut...even if it is made up.

ive been on a huge cure kick lately and even exploring the post-disintegration stuff, which i never paid much attention to. wild mood swings (96) has some really good songs on it.

ive also been listening to a bunch of robert smith interviews and he is definitely a different person than his image would have you believe. he seems like a down to earth, normal bloke with a good sense of humor. id much rather hang with him than morrissey! check this one out...

    ^ jo,

Kanye is the poster boy for incredibly obnoxious, d-bag level of a person but unbelievable music.

Just saw Billie Joe Armstrong and his new side project The Longshot in a tiny bar in my tiny NW Washington town. They crushed it. The new music sounds like early Green Day/ 80s Replacements garage rock.

    Nektar - Sounds Like This
    Nemrud - Ritual
    Ozric Tentacles - Strangeitude
Wobbler - From Silence to Somewhere

Both the Nemrud and Wobbler cds are somewhat new obscure Prog-Rock that I found out about from the great website:

Omega - Csillagok útján - Skyrover
    Procol Harum - Grand Hotel
And then what I thought was Uriah Heep's studio album, The Magician's Birthday Party but instead it is some weird concert, live album for them around this time. I was not happy when I made this "discovery".
