    Silver medal statements
Houston Rockets: No, we didn't see this one coming, considering all the other venues that were projected as Kevin Martin landing sites.

But Daryl Morey accomplished his goal of flipping Tracy McGrady into something tangible while squeezing a maximum draft payout out of the Knicks.

This is an inside-outside gambit that could provide a huge payoff next season, when Yao Ming returns.

There might have been a higher place on the podium if Martin had inspired any confidence since his return from the injured list. What Houston can't afford is another outside specialist who doesn't prove so special.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that I disagree with this guy that New York made out better on all of this than Houston, just saying...

If NY is able to sign TWO max players this summer, Nobody can argue about who wins in this deal

If those max players are Carlos Boozer and Joe Johnson, I think that's open for debate.

Honestly, I think it only matters if one of those two max players is James or Wade. Sure they'll probably make the playoffs with some of those other guys, but nowhere near contenders.

They'll sign 2 max players, but it won't be two of the following:

    James
    Bosh
    Wade

    Mark my words.

that's a playoff team, so they wouldn't care about the picks.

So a 15-25 first round pick is completely worthless to a non-contending playoff team? How are they going to get to contending status?

Everyone is talking about NY signing two max free agents....my question is this:

They have 4 players under contract next year + 2 = 6 players, how will they sign 6-7 more guys with no money?

I don't know, while if that does happen, then yes NY obviously wins, but it does not mean that Houston loses. Worst case scenario we still get an extra first round draft pick in 2012 with a GM and staff that know how to use it. While if they do not get two max players this summer NY loses BIG time and Houston wins even greater (unless of course they are the absolute worst team in the whole NBA next year which I don't think represents a great probability, it would seem that Walsh and D'Antoni are too competent for that). So given that we had to add no players in bringing in NY on this deal but we got Jordan Hill and the whole draft picks deal. So on one side you got NY w/ possibly win huge or possibly lose huge (if they don't get two max contracts that lack of first round draft picks is going to be crippling) vs. Houston who could possibly win or win bigger.

There is no way NY get wade nor Lebron just because i know for fact that wade does not want to go to a place where they cant't offer him championship. As for leabron, y would he leave Cavs? lol they are playing so well and has nice players around him. I can see Joe johnson going there and amare. But thats is not going to be enough because they have no other player that can support them.

Having space to get 2 Max players is nice but look at their roster and remember they might renounce Lee if they do sign two max guys then who do they have???

    It's D'Antoni. he's used to running 6-7 guys until they're completely dead.

Mavs and Cavs probably made the trades that will be impacted the most this year...both teams have a solid shot at taking everything without injury.

Houston made a good deal, but yet again we have to see if the returns turn into decent players. Everyone on this board is riding high on Hill, after New York drafted him in disappointment to not getting Jennings or Curry. Martin is the head turning in the deal, but he is going to be good enough to get help the Rockets into playoffs, maybe.
