Having seen The Room at least 10 times and having met both Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero, this is a must watch for me.
Oh, I don't think it's an act. That's how he is. Honestly the idea that this is all just a "work" gives him too much credit. When talking with him you don't get the impression that he's especially intelligent. When I met him he was wearing this weird ass leather outfit with 3 belts and suspenders, was sickly pale, and tossed a football around with us in traffic. This was just outside the River Oaks theater when he made an appearance before a midnight showing. Greg Sestero on the other hand seemed like a very normal guy who was still not the most comfortable in that kind of social situation.
I can't get anyone to see this with me so am going solo. I think this puts me in a Wisseau-like orbit of patheticness.
Saw it on Saturday. Enjoyed it. Would recommend for all The Room fans. You could tell Franco was a genuine fan himself.
James Franco seems to totally hit or totally miss on a character, it’s kind kind of of strange. Looks like he hit this one. Will see though I don’tknow much about the source material.
I thought the performances were great, but the direction was lacking. Felt like a TV episode rather than a movie, but maybe that amateur quality was purposeful.
saw it on Tuesday, loved it, one of my favorites of 2017 along with Lady Bird, definitely recommend it even if you haven't seen "The Room"
after watching it, i feel like tommy wiseau is just a super l337 troll who cannot turn it off. can't take dave franco seriously tho...breh is like 5'4" while the real greg is like 6'5" also what a wasted opportunity, they had alison brie and didn't give her teh noodz scene.
I made it through about 40% of this and gave up. Can't for the life of me figure out what was entertaining about it. I assume this is just for folks "in the know" about this movie (The Room) and the guy (Tommy). That's not me.. so I couldn't care less, was hoping the movie would pull me in... it was just boring and annoying. My two cents...
Yeah, you really need to watch The Room first in my opinion. Speaking of, I’m jealous of people getting to watch it for the first time. I just watched Disaster Artist yesterday and loved it.
