Ever since James Cameron said he wanted to make this movie in 2001, I've been waiting for it. I always liked the anime though today the animation may seem dated. The anime covers the 1st two manga books and the movie is expected to cover the 1st four. I think Cameron's show Dark Angel was somewhat by this and a young Jessica Alba may have been perfect for this role. Also i feel like Matt Damon's Elysium was also heavily inspired by this.
Seriously, that shet is freaky AF. I give that trailer 1.5 stars only cause my baby Jennifer Connelly is in it though.
Yikes, I was really looking forward to this, but the attempt at live action anime eyes is just....weird, and not good weird. It's hard to notice anything else.
Yall are tripping over some eyes? I saw this trailer in 3d when i saw "star wars the force awakens" at theaters and it was fu**ing insane. Blew the rest of the trailers out of the water. This movie will slay. BOOK IT!
The guy who created the terminator, the titanic, and avatar says otherwise. I'm going to reserve judgement until I see it, but given James Cameron's record, it will most likely be a commercial success.
For anyone interested, saw this last night in IMAX 3D at a screening. I'm not familiar with the original Anime so I can't speak to how closely it stick to that. That being said, I really enjoyed it. Very cool world building all around, I really like all the visuals and action sequences. The 3D is pretty impressive in parts. The story throws a lot at you, if you roll with it, it's pretty fun. Biggest issues I have with it, is the script is just clunky, some of the lines are just groaners. Add that to the fact that they cast some top level talent and they don't use them very much. That being said I did like Rose Salazar's mo-cap performance as Alita. Once you get used to the eyes, it's not that distracting, it does take an adjustment period. Still, even with it's issues I really enjoyed it and wanted to see more......which the way the box office is tracking might not happen unfortunately. Thought it was a solid B+......
Review I read says they crammed about 4 books worth of material into the movie. I read the manga way back when, but that seems like a lot of ground to cover.
