Pretty cool chart, good to see us being one of the smarter teams.

Man this is one of those big reminders that it sucks to a be a Nets fan. I kinda feel sorry for them!

10 west teams above the line. 5 east. I actually thought it would be more lopsided.

Morey has been bringing this up in podcasts for centuries. Finally a visual.

This is a really fun graphic.

    1. Leslie Alexander has the exact GM he wants. Morey is a GM who would operate this team very differently if he were 100% in charge. He's not. He has Leslie and it seems does a good job on both fronts.
    2. I'm really surprised by the Hawks. Yea, i kinda always know they win 49 useless games per year, but man...they are making a nice return too.
    3. I'm interested to see this graph over the next 3 years to track the Timberpuppies / Bucks who both currently bum me out. Small market is tough ---- But those Grizz!

East teams get to play east teams more often increasing their winning percentage.

Leslie will be gone, now we see what Morey could do without the old owner.

East teams are barely above the line. Outliers are all from west.

Morey does not hand out massive contracts out of loyalty like every other NBA gm.

    Parsons: Pass
    Motiejunas: Pass

With the exception of Anderson -- a byproduct of an inflated cap year -- Morey has rarely spent money except for a star like Howard or by extending Harden to a record deal.

The graphs also tells you the more you spend the more you win.

While true that Morey doesn't hand out bad contracts, let's shed some light on those two situations.

    - We would have matched Parsons if Bosh didn't go back to Miami
    - We gave D-Mo a nice offered that he ignored, a QO that he refused to sign, and a final offer that he accepted but failed the physical. All three are much better than what he got afterwards.

There is truth to this statement generally, but there is also truth to the statement the more you win, the more you spend. Having a soft cap allows teams to spend over the cap to keep their own players or for S&Ts. Teams that win are going to try to keep players together and constantly be over the salary cap. Teams that lose, trade away salary trying to free cap space so they can sign a player that can help them win. It takes a really stupid front office to rack up a lot of losing seasons and stay above the salary cap for many consecutive years.

No way. Nets spent more than anyone except for Cavs, look how much did they win? It's far from guaranteed. I think winning has more to do with how many elite players you have. You just have to pay them big bucks.

And to think, if we just traded Dwight for nothing in return other than cap space in that awful 2015-2016 campaign, we'd be lower on salary and have about 10 extra wins. Good God that man tanked it his last year in Houston...

Doens't mean that Morey is getting a better boss...just a different one.
