Morey just signed a contract extension. He had a chance to take the 76ers job with youth and an owner willing to spend. Can't see LA being a spot for him tbh.
Why would Morey take a job in LA the dumpster fire? He has Harden in his prime and breaking Jordan and Kobe's records on a nightly basis!
Jerry West or David Griffin are more likely. Lebron and Griffin had a great relationship in Cleveland. Lebron was pissed when Dan Gilbert took the cheap route and did not extend Griffin's contract.
Morey has just become the one of highest paid gm in this league. i doubt he's leaving for that shiity lebrick show in la
lol...as if Morey would ever go from Harden and a contending level team with a coach who buys into his analytics to a much older Lebron and the mess over there Harden is every GM’s dream as a franchise player...loyal to the organization and causes no drama, plus he’s able to carry any combo of players and coaching staff to the playoffs
they may offer more money and a better title but the job security is terrible there. what would you give him 3-4 years max before being replaced? vs basically a job for life with the rockets? I'm sure he can analytics that into an easy decision to stay.
Morey isn't leaving Houston where he has so much control Morey would have to compete with LeBron for personnel decisions. Thank goodness Morey doesn't have to deal with Les's catering to China anymore. Tilman is letting Morey be the real Morey.
Houston would have to agree to release him since he just signed an extension. Also, I don't see Morey going near that dumpster fire.
I don't see this as an obvious not going to happen that you all do. I have no idea DM's motivations, but it should be noted he did talk to Philly last year. An an organization Philly was in a much better spot, of course, but if DM (i) is attracted by LA - and he might be, I think his kids are in college so none of those ties remain, (ii) is offered an even huger contract, (iii) sees the LA situation and assets from afar and thinks there are deals to be made and analytical based changes to implement that can be success, (iv) doesn't like Tilman - whether it made sense or not, consider DM spent much of this year figuring out how to get better while spending less, (v) realizes his run in Houston has been very long and while successful, not ultimately successful, etc... then it's a possibility. Unlikely, but even if it happens, we have Gersson to take DM's place.
Jerry West makes a lot of sense for LA, but he is on the older side. Morey will retire in Houston (I hope).
