I’m telling you right now if you think a trade involving a player that big is looming you’re going to be very very disappointed.

Chris Bosh is not playing in the NBA anymore period, nobody is clearing him.

Chris Paul’s deal has nothing to do with us using our MLE... he could’ve taken a 10 million dollar pay cut we’re still in the same situation

The cheapest contracts are max and min. You can find bargains in mid-level contracts but the likelihood that players with min/max contracts outplay their contracts are just much higher.

It’s a no brainer we gave Chris the max. Without Lebron coming you just have to do so. Comparing to some other max (e.g. Devin Booker, in which case he definitely deserves the max) it’s a steal imo; even with injury and age factored in. The alternative is Chris leaving and we have whom to fill in the gap?

Nine months to go until Playoff. Seven months to go until trade deadline. A lot things will change. Two year remaining will become expiring. Underperforming min will get replaced. Chance that rookies outperform (see Melton). It’s not a long season, it’s a long long season.

People will argue we lost defense and harmed chemistry. Well. Defense is half skill half assertiveness. We have Thicc, Chris and Clint to set the tone. Awareness is increasing and it’s arguably becoming part of our DNA. Plus, there is no reason to not believe another 3 and D guy will be found by the GM. LMM was signed 9 days from today a year ago; and only after the signing did we realize how good he ought to be. As for chemistry, as long as we don’t sign lockroom poisons, we are fine.

    Take it easy.

Seems pretty clear that Morey has a ruthless view of who's easily replaced and who's not. And he makes his offers accordingly. When somebody walks, that's Morey disagreeing with you on that player's replaceability.

The theme? You really think a 38 year old Chris Paul is going to outplay that contract?

If everything goes well, you would not have to tell peeps to calm the eff down repeatedly.

That sounds like a loser quote... or the quote of somebody who wants to contend and put butts in the seats - but not really worried about winning a championship... if yer happy to re-sign 1 guy while 2 others walk - and a 3rd might play for his qo - and then walk...

DM has been hanging out with MDA too much and his whole 'the season can be cherished even without a championship...' talk...

In all seriousness it is pretty clear from Morey's quote about Paul, that he believes that putting the pieces around Paul and Harden isn't really THAT hard. I also think there are players out there that can replace Ariza and Moute. I just don't know that the Rockets are in a position to make the move (Bazemore/Batum) or are willing to pay the cost.

I do think that the Rockets are smart to hold onto their MLE at this point.

as fans we have our right to be pissed so far in the summer, we lost two of our best wing defenders without any meaningful additions...(ryno still with us)
so yea tad brown and Morey can go **** themselves unless we get some quality wings back

There is still time that he delivers though, but dun rest on your laurels, Morey......MCW was just a mistake of a shooter, but for one year, acceptable.

Clearly Morey can't build another Worriers team to beat the Worriers. Coming close is nothing.

Coming close would be winning a championship convincingly vs their 4-5 championships.

I think he means role-player contracts. That is a pretty good theme since the 2015 WCF. Ariza, Bev, Gordon, PJ, Luc, Green outplayed their contracts. And Anderson and Brewer did not outplay their contracts.

Plus, he dropped Parsons, TJones and DMo by figuring they would not outperform their contracts....and was correct. I guess with DMo, he technically (but apparently, illegally) matched, but only by changing the yearly, waive dates to much more favorable July 1st dates for cutting him if he doesn't outperform contract.

If thats the plan... it doesn't bode well for us...
What are we gonna get - another Iso Joe? oh boy! or get snubbed by the likes of Bogut again....
Morey is painted into a corner with Ryno's contract and an owner who aint gonna spend a couple hundred million in luxury taxes... expect minor moves and Morey trying to put lipstick on a pig... smh...

If there was a deal out there for a player of that quality, it would have already happened.

The Rockets do not have the assets to get a player like that.

The Rockets have to target players that other teams don't want anymore but will exceed expectations for the Rockets.

System fit is huge for all non star players on the Rockets.

Losing Ariza and Moute is disappointing but not the end of the world IF the Rockets can find suitable replacements.

This has always been the case. Morey takes the emotion out of it. Each player gets assigned a value. I am sure Morey has a huge board/matrix of players with assigned values.

Morey could just trade for Ariza or Moute near the trade deadline since it's not a huge lost. At that time you could probably just send them Anderson plus a 2nd rounder maybe (ie Ariza for Anderson + 2nd rounder) since both are expiring and you've already paid most of their salary for the year. Plus the Sun's at that time will be tanking :) Ditto for Moute.. if Clips not in contention. They could be open for a small trade.

This is if we want them back that is and if there aren't other options available.

Morey is saving the MLE for someone which is why he didn't pay Luc. If we had Luc's bird rights, we would not have let him go. Opportunity costs. Now, we have to figure out who is better than Luc that we can get for the MLE.

Rockets fans better buckle up, because to me this all points towards giving up a chance to compete. This was not the off-season to play around and think guys like Ariza & Mbah a Moute - KEY to our chances to compete and defensive strategy - can just be replaced. Also with our 3pt strategy, good luck with MCW and Melo if he signs here. Sure Morey can pull off something again, but with all hope on Melo it sure doesn't look like we're in a good state and frankly we look like a joke. After a game 7 WCF appearance you think bringing back CP3 and a bunch of nobodies while losing a starter and his back-up - 2 out of 8 rotation players - is trying again and makes you look like a contender? Sad if true.
