Gianforte is going to charged. A team of 3 reporters from Fox news witnessed the event and at least one of them described the event as most people understand it. Now, will Gianforte lie to authorities? Go to foxnews, lol.

Gianforte charged with with a misdemeanor assault charge. Sheriff said the injuries sustained by the victim did not merit a felony charge.

 

Man, these are strange times.

 

I guarantee you this will help him. Can't imagine Montana voters being too sympathetic to a liberal journalist who represents what's wrong with the current political climate.

They can just refuse to seat him, they've done that before with individuals or entire groups of congressmen. I think there's as much suspense about what the judge will do at his arraignment and with a first offense for battery, what consideration they may give for possibly undoing or intervening with a popular election.

 

So did he wrap one arm over the shoulder near the neck, and then hook another under the crotch for grip, that's some pretty close encounters.

 

Interesting. This is so unique. I can't recall a similar event in the past.

IMO, the charge of assault is light. Why is this not a battery crime? Two hands on someone's throat, body slamming and punching. I would think that in most jurisdictions this would easily constitute a charge of felony battery -- some injuries (e.g. spinal) are not discovered until later in time.

We need to set an example for our children of what is acceptable behavior and what's not. Gianforte may possibly face a slap in the wrist for his actions.
