ESPN would have a field day with this if Howard was still a free agent. Sources: Monta Ellis agrees to sign with Dallas. "Multiple Sources" aka Chris Broussard: Dwight has wanted to play with Ellis for some time now. Dallas has now moved out in front in the Dwight sweepstakes. Deal could happen as soon as today. Anyhow, I guess Cuban finally scrapped his year-to-year-one-year-deal-plan? Feels like he owes it to Dirk? Devin Harris, Monta Ellis, Jose Calderon, maybe Greg Oden or Sam Dalembert?
calderon/Devin harris ellis/ vince carter marion dirk dalembert? could be 8th seed....wont go anywhere for next few yrs with those 3 yr contracts
If you can't get Dwight, go for Iggy. If you can't get Iggy, go for Bynum. If you can't get Bynum, settle for Ellis. If you can't keep Dwight, go after... Nick Young. It feels good to be a Rocket fan.
Seriously though, how are they signing all of these guys? Considering they needed to dump Marion in order to sign Howard how are they finding the cap space for Ellis (10 mil) + Calderon (7mil) + Devin Harris (3mil). Last time I checked they didn't have 20mil available. I am guessing some trades are coming or I am thoroughly confused. Anyways, I would love this mediocre signing by Dallas but hate that we will have to play against Ellis 4 times a year. He destroys the Rockets for some reason. I thought he was the best player ever until I saw him play against someone besides the Rockets.
No. They're saying the total deal is going to be between 25-30 million over 3 years. If they get Monta at 25 million for three years, that's actually a pretty fantastic contract.
