You're clearly not comfortable with admitting any personal bias in this discussion...the type of bias that would get your opinion dismissed from jury duty in this case. Go to the D&D with that stuff. The rest of society doesn't care about your extreme bias; hence, why you'd not make the cut at jury duty in this Felony 2 case.

Bias? The only bias I have is against the apologists that seek to absolve people of blame for their own poor life choices.

If there are no consequences, or if those who made the poor life choices are "given a free pass" or absolved of any blame for the consequences of their decisions in the court of public opinion, the incentive for those in society to make positive life choices is lessened, albeit gradually.

Knowingly beginning a relationship with a known violent psychopath = poor life choice.

I highlighted #2 and #3 because they are relevant here.

The tldr for #2 is that people with the right genetics and who witness intense violence at the right age basically get locked into being psychopaths. This guy's brain is permanently defective. The professor that does the talk is interesting in that he is a descendant of Libby Borden and he has confirmed that he has the bad genes, but because he didn't witness violence he isn't violence. However he admits that the genes express themselves by making him a really thoughtless, selfish person in personal relationships.

The tldr for #3 is that it is really easy to see from far away why she should have nothing to do with this guy, but chronic abusers are like child molesters in that the put a whole bunch of effort into "grooming" their victims. The black-and-white nature of abusive/not abusive it is not seen from up in close when the abuser is doing their thing.

Anyway, I thought it was pretty interesting when I heard it.
