Mitt Romney for president in 2016?

Far from being excommunicated by Republicans after his loss to President Obama, 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is enjoying a brand resurgence of late, drawing several potential 2016 candidates to his "ideas summit" this weekend in Utah and even earning some 2016 speculation himself.

Meanwhile, some other potential candidates are in Iowa for the state Republican Party's convention there Saturday. And not to be left out, Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J., was in California Friday to raise money for the Republican gubernatorial candidate there and participate in a Facebook chat.

Romney once worried he'd be branded a "loser for life" by his party if he failed to unseat the president, but it hasn't quite worked out that way. Despite the crowd of up-and-comers at his summit, many people there were more abuzz about the possibility that Romney himself could jump into the race in 2016.

Rommey "is the only person that can fill the stage," said MSNBC host and former Republican congressman Joe Scarborough at a private dinner on the summit's opening night, according to The Washington Post.

    Really? why?

What do you think would be different considering most of his legislation wouldn't get past the Senate the same way Mr. Obama can't get anything past the house.

The government is shoveling money to banks now and Mr. Obama seems to be surfing a good line in foreign policy... no new wars, no big losses

    Literally why?

He'd lose. Unless Hilary screws something up really badly soon. Like national security right on actual American soil bad.

It will never happen. Especially with republicans; once the stench of loser is on you they'll drop you like a bad hedge fund.

It seems to me Nixon lost to Kennedy in 1960 and yet later won the White House in 1968. Reagan lost the nomination to Ford in 1976 and won the White House in 1980. GHW Bush lost the nomination to Reagan in 1980 and won the White House in 1988.

This is not your father's and grandfather's republican party.

Reagan couldn't win today's republican nomination.

And besides two out of your three examples were republicans losing to republicans.

Tea partiers would burn the Republican party into ashes before they let Romney win the nomination again.

Besides, some GOP governor will step up and be a credible candidate. Probably someone not on the national radar.

Instead of commenting on Romney in 2016.......we get the typical shot at Obama and a statement that can't be even remotely proven. Shows how afraid the GOP is when you bring up 2016.

    Telling......

A conjecture is a proposition that is unproven.

The original claim made by Mcmark was that Repubicans never nominate a candidate that lost before. My post refuted that completely.

What relevance does your post have? (aside from snark).
