So, no Joe? http://bostonherald.com/sports/bask...009_02_23_Mikki_Moore_expected_to_join_Celts/ Mikki Moore expected to join Celts By Steve Bulpett | Monday, February 23, 2009 | http://www.bostonherald.com | Boston Celtics Photo by AP (File) DENVER — Mikki Moore is expected to be a Celtic by this time tomorrow, according to NBA sources. The 7-footer, waived last week by Sacramento, will by all accounts clear waivers Tuesday morning, at which time he will be a free agent. Celtic director of basketball operations Danny Ainge had no comment on the issue, other than to deny he has made a formal offer to Moore. It is known that he has spoken with Moore’s representative, though the same is true for other potential free agents. But league sources insist Moore, 33, will pick the Celtics [team stats] over a number of other high profile suitors. Moore was put on waivers after the Thursday deadline, meaning he won’t clear the 48-hour business-day period until tomorrow. Moore, in his 11th year in the league, played 46 games for the Kings this season. He averaged 3.5 points and 3.3 rebounds while playing just 16 minutes per game. His best game actually came earlier this month, when he scored 12 points and had seven rebounds in a loss to Utah. In his career, Moore has averaged 5.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 0.5 blocks per game. His best season was in 2006-07 with the Nets when he averaged 9.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while shooting 61 percent from the field. He played in 79 games that season, starting 55. Moore played three games for the Celtics during the 2002-03 season. Article URL: http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/basketball/celtics/view.bg?articleid=1154114
If he were a good person inside, he'd sign with the Timberwolves. Oh wait, the word I was looking for was masochist. Why's he all up on dat pleasure?
This isn't even remotely close. Moore isn't a former franchise player who failed to deliver his team a championship and used rode another star player to a ring. He's been a role player his entire career.
you know i never understood the deal with this guy, he's a complete scrub but gets a starting spot with the kings, then gets let go, then signs with boston. he might give them a few minutes but he doesn't really bring anything to the table except a big body. pj brown will be sorely missed this year, i predict boston doesn't win the east. losing posey and pj brown has decreased their talent level too much. eddie house just isn't gonna cut it.
Moore is better than Brown was. Brown was brought in for leadership, and wound up making a few good plays in the Cavs series. Now that the C's have been tested, they don't need an elder statesman like Brown. When healthy they're much better than last year.
Sacramento signed him to larger contract than he was worth the year after he put up great numbers (for him) on NJ (thanks mainly to Kidd.) He's a scrapper. Tall, but rail thin. I honestly think he'll help the Celts, especially w/ their current predicament.
Brown is better. Moore can't guard good post players, Brown can. At 7', Moore is a very poor rebounder too.
Brown was a below-average reserve except for one game in the Cavs series. Funny how championships color memories! Moore is better than the 38-year-old Brown, though he does have the disadvantage of not being able to guard fives. From what I've seen he does pretty well at both ends for a PF. He can shoot, and scoring is what the C's second unit needs. He's like Mark Blount, except that he's a hard worker, knows his role and is a great guy.
