Another way to look at this trade is using the Jimmy Johnson draft trade value chart:

    12th pick = 1200 points
    25th pick = 720 points

Therefore, assuming the 2018 first-round pick is no better than 25th overall, the Texans gave up:

    1440 points

The 240 points difference in value is the equivalent of a third-round pick or 70th overall.

However the future value of a draft pick a year out has to be inflation adjusted. One way practical back-of-the-napkin method is to value a future pick to the 16th pick (median value) in the next lower round. Therefore, the 2018 25th pick is worth about the 16th pick in the 2nd round or 48th overall which is 420 points.

So inflation-adjusted the Texans gave up 1120 points. That is reasonable value for both teams to agree upon.

We gave up a ton to get Deshaun if you think about it.

If it pans out it'll be like Brock never existed for us.

It is all about supply and demand. The team needed a QB and at 25 it wasn't going to happen. They needed a potential franchise QB. Thought Os was it but that gamble went south. Cost them a 2nd next year but worth it for the Romo gamble. But the man retired. So really needed to get a future QB they trust will be the man.

Well this Watson is the man and if they are right then sucks to be Cleveland as they just kept passing on QBs.

But they did get Kizer so if they are right them they Texans really screwed

But Watson looks to be the right guy and with a year of seasoning will be the starter
